Backstitch [HxH]

X Six X

1st person POV

"I will now take the opportunity to introduce myself properly to the remaining 43 applicants. I am Netero, chairman of this years' election committee. It is a pleasure to meet all of you." The chairmen says, formally introducing himself.
"And I am his secretary, Beans" a short green bean-shaped guy chimes in.
"I had originally planned to make my appearance in the final phase, but I'm here now."

     The tension in the room is unsettling, and I can't seem to ignore it.  There's a long pause between the chairmen's words. "There's nothing I love more than the feeling of tension in the air. So I think I'll stick around."

    The bean man standing beside him informs us of our arrival time and accommodations. I'm just glad we finally get to rest. The exam has taken a toll on me. I just hope there are showers here. I feel like shit. Gon and Killua have no intention of resting. All they want to do it explore the airship.

"They've got so much energy. It's kind of scary" I say to the Leorio and Kurapika.
"Not me though. I just want to crash" Leorio agrees while letting out a big sigh.

"As do I. However, there's one thing that still concerns me. How many more phases do you think we have?"

"Going off the lengths of the first two phases, I would think about five. Not too many, and it's a nice number. But I could be wrong." I say although I'm not exactly sure if Kurapika wanted my input or Leorio's.

"As long as I've been doing it, it's been five or six." Behind us is tonpa. Now, what does he want? I've already said how long the exam might be, so what's the point of reinforcing my statement? He looks like he wants something.

"That means we've got at least another three left to go." Leorio pouts.
"We should rest in that case," Kurapika notes, getting ready to leave.

"I'd be careful if I were you," Tonpa adds.
I swear to god if he doesn't shut up I'm going to do something. The problem is I don't actually know what I would do. "The secretary only said when we're arriving. He didn't say the third phase wasn't going to happen on the airship itself. Sure we might be notified, but it could be before 8 am. You might wake up and find out the exam already took place."

"No, that wrong!" I say, pulling a Naegi. "Each time a phase has started, they've announced it, and I doubt they're going to stop doing it that way now. I'm not sure what you're trying to pull but you just need to just shut the hell up. Your Kmart discount bin Big Ed lookin ass has been bugging us the whole exam so just knock it off!" I snap. In all honesty, he looks worse than Big Ed, so he should take that as a compliment. Tonpa's in shock, and next to me Leorio's beginning to look like he fears me. Kurapika just blinks a few times. I turn and walk out of the room. The next thing I want to do is locate the dining hall before all the good stuff is gone.

I pick at my cake, staring down at the buildings lit up in the night. It's quiet and no ones around. I scroll through my phone, responding to a few messages and posting some pictures I took during the exam. I'm not sure if anything was confidential but no one stopped me when I took them.

    "Whatcha lookin at?" My phone drops onto the counter as the result of me being startled. Killua and Gon both laugh at my mistake. "Not funny, didn't laugh" I say annoyed.

    The Killua looks out the window, sparkles in his eyes. "Wow! Gon look at this!" The two boys press against the window. "Wow! So cool! It's like jewls!" Gon is as equally impressed.

    
    I'm back to eating your cake ignoring them. I hit your fork to hit the back of your throat, earning a coughing fit. "Are you ok?" Gon asks.
"Finally, a normal reaction. Gon's just weird then." Killua says.
