*The picture above is the cabin layout, and there is a LONG but VERY IMPORTANT author's note at the bottom.  Hope you enjoy the chapter!*

*This chapter got long, sorry.  You're not obligated to read parts that don't have your character in them (but you can if you want to of course)*

The door swung open, and slammed into the wall behind it with a bang. "Rise and shine!" said a cheerful voice, as light streamed into the room, illuminating the sleep-deprived teenage zombies within.

"Somebody help me find the snooze button on the sun," mumbled Luna, pressing her pillow over her head.

"Not my fault you were watching prank videos at three last night," said Scar, amused, climbing out of bed.

"When they said we got up at six thirty I assumed they were joking," muttered Luna.

"If it helps, I could tip the bunk bed over," offered Ricon, sitting up in his own.

"Yeah, that's a hard pass from me," yawned Luna, rolling over and accidentally falling out and slamming onto the floor. "Agh, these camp beds are tiny!"

"Watch it, you almost hit me!" complained Ari, moving around on the mat they'd dragged onto the floor.

"Once you're all ready head down to the mess hall," instructed the voice by the door. It belonged to Zana, the group's camp guide. "See you there!" The door creaked shut.

Slowly, everyone was waking up. In the back corner, Agi was sitting up and rubbing the fog off of his glasses, while below him, Pierre's sleeping bag was showing signs of life. Lei woke up easily, sliding out of bed, and almost stepping on Anya, who was climbing out at just the same time. Ricon woke up quickly, and climbed out of bed, and Gavin in fact had already been awake, reading quietly with the light from the window. Santiago yawned loudly, but woke up quickly. Virginia was the second to last to ooze out of bed. Finally, everyone was up except Travis, whose mess of sleeping bag and blankets had yet to show any sign of being vaguely alive.

Candon poked him. "Come on, we've got to get up."

"Go away."

Virginia glared. "If he's going to make us late, we may as well leave."

Ari scrolled through their phone. "Hold on, I'm looking for a good bugle noise."

"Dude," said Candon, poking him again.

"Let's all poke Travis until he gets up," grinned Ricon poking him. Ari laughed and started doing the same.

"Okay! Okay! Fine!" Travis materialized out of the sleeping bad. "I'm awake! Let's go!" He marched straight out of the cabin.

Anya looked thoughtful. "Isn't he going to change out of his PJs?"

Travis marched back into the room.

Ten minutes later, the thirteen of them walked into the dinning hall. "Ooh, something smells good," said Scar, looking over at the pancakes. After dropping their backpacks at the designated table for cabin 12, they got in line, got pancakes, and filed back over to the main table.

"It bothers me that these pancakes are good," said Pierre, shoveling some into his mouth.

"Come again?" frowned Candon.

"Think about it," started Pierre. "School lunches are terrible. They're like, absolutely disgusting."

Scar was nodding. "Preach, brother."

"And they have access to all kinds of resources. These pancakes they make in a ten-foot kitchen in the middle of the woods with no running water. If they're this good, that means that the school lunch people just aren't even trying."
