Chapter 8:First round Zen vs Ilda

It was close to time for the preliminaries of the tournament to begin and the bracket was announced,

Match 1:Izuku Midoriya vs Hitoshi Shinso

Match 2:Shoto Todoroki vs Hanata Sero

Match 3:Ibara Shiozaki vs Denki Kaminari

Match 4:Zenkichi Yagi vs Tenya Ilda

Match 5: Mina Ashido vs Yuga Aoyama

Match 6 :Momo Yaoyorozu vs Fumikage Tokoyami

Match 7:Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu Vs Ejiro Kirihsima

Match 8:Ochako Uraraka vs Katsuki Bakugou

Zen looked at the bracket and then looked at Izuku he saw him smiling ' Geez I hope he isnt turning into me, that would be bad' Zen said to himself as he left to the stands as the first match was about to begin. OUr hero watched as he saw Midoryia stand i the ring his opponent saying stuff about him and him not budging, Zen was bored by this match and closed his eyes. "Hey goldilocks what's the matter uninterested?" Bakugou asked

"Yep, no point in watching if I already know who the victor is" Our hero responds as Midnight anounces Izuku the winner . "Told ya" Zen says as he opened his eyes and smirks 'honestly the one who's gonna give me a real challenge is Izuku or Bakugou'

The next few matches were somewhat quick. Todoroki one shot Sero with a giant ice attack, Ibara won because Denki shorted himself out due to Ibara's hair being vines and acts like an insulator. It was finally Zen's Match he walked into the arena, Ilda did the same our hero got closer and held out his hand and smiled "May the best man win" He says as Ilda takes his hand and shakes it

"Same to you '' Ilda responds as the two distance themselves.

Midnight started the match Ilda rushes Zen who stands motionless with his focused, Ilda tried to kick our hero but Zen simplys dodges and counters with a gut to the punch. He then rushes the blue haired boy at a quick speed gaining distance Ilda tries another quich blow to which Zen ducks placing his hand on the ground twisting it propelling himself up and kicking Ilda as a counter move and then began a combo one where he was swift with his movements hitting Ilda in the gut three times making slide back a few meters. Zen was smiling "I think it's time we kick this into high gear don't ya think" Zen asks as Ilda catches his breath

"I agree" Ilda responds as his engines rev up, Zen smiles as his eyes turn greenish blue and an aura surrounds himself as his hair turns golden.

The two go again this time Zen isn't messing around Ilda went for one final attack a as he got closer he leapt into the air Zen smiles as the kick was about to connect Zen caught his leg and got him into a submission hold, As Ilda struggles to get out Zen tightens the hold more evidently making him tap out winning the match. Our hero lets go of the submission getting up holding his hand out helping the other up. They smile at each other and shake hands, this makes the crowd erupts in cheers cause of the amazing match and it hope fully things would only get more exciting.

The rest of the matches we okay well that's what Zen thought after his match it was Mina vs Aoyama, Mina won that because her opponent wasn't able to continue after he over used his quirk. Yaoyorozu's and Tokoyami's match was also quick. Yaoyorozu lost cause she got stuck in her head clearly she was upset after words. Kirishimas and Tetsutetsus were a draw since their quirks were similar. Zen didn't watch it nonetheless he went to go check on Yaoyorozu. As he went to the waiting room on where she was he knocked on the door and entered to see that she was crying. "You okay?" Zen asks

"I lost, I didn't even have time to attack or do anything" She looks down "I don't think I have what it takes to be a hero" She says this annoys Zen a bit

"Don't say that, you did your best, that's all that matters, plus I was once told that were still kids, we have room for improvement," Zen says as he sits next to her "Wanna know something about me and how I got to where I am today?" He asks as this catches her attention as Yaoyorozu nods " I wasn't always like this, I wasn't the best fighter ever hell I didn't even have the muscle I have now, but that didn't stop me from giving up on my dreams I worked hard and got through it, I remember this one time I was practicing one of my beam attacks and when forming the energy I got distracted and it blew up, my master laughed at me but I didn't let it bring me down it just showed that I had to improve" Zen pats her back lightly "You can improve as well and I will try my best to help you" He says as he gets up as she looks up at him and he smiles and walks away leaving yaoyorozu to her thoughts.

Our hero arrives back to his seat to see the match between Uraraka and Bakugou going on, Bakugou is not taking it easy on her and the crowd is booing him but they quickly stop due to Aizawa saying that he is taking this seriously and sees her as a worthy opponent. The match continued as Uraraka dropped debris on him but he countered by sending a giant explosion destroying them. The match was called as Bakugou won due to Uraraka passing out. Izuku quickly went to go check on her as there was a break before the quarter finals, Zen sat outside the room as the two conversed, 'you really do know how to brighten peoples day huh Izuku' Zen thought to himself as he smirks knowing Izuku cheered up his classmate.
