"Dad, can I have a quick word?" I talked into the phone. "Yeah. Sure." He agreed. "I can't go back past the birth again, can I?" I worryingly quizzed. "No. I should have mentioned that. You're okay till it comes out but the exact sperm at the exact moment got you this particular baby, so if you do anything the tiniest bit different, you'll have a different child." He explained. "So, every day up 'til yesterday is as it will always be? Lost?" I spoke gently into the phone. "Just like for everyone else." He responded. "Okay. interesting. Tough. I love you, Dad. I've gotta go." I couldn't do this, I had to undo the changing of Mali's life, even if it involved hurt. We had to deal with it as if, I weren't able to travel back in time. We'd have to suffer like any normal person would have. No matter how bad. Joy and I were sat in the hospital beside Mali's cold hospital bed. "We're not leaving this room until we find a way of making sure this never happens again." I told Mali, making her sure I was serious. It was 10pm at night. "Will you go now?" I sleepily refused. Until she spoke up. "I have to leave Jimmy, don't I? For good. And I have to stop drinking. And stop leaving jobs. And I have to go out with someone nice and boring..." She let out with sadness.

"Yay." Joy said sarcastically, clapping her hands quietly. The next day arrived within a few hours.
"And, you know, nice isn't necessarily boring." Joy told Mali, trying to cheer her up and give her hope. "Like who?" Mali asked, eating her cereal. "Tell me, have you seen Luke recently?" I interrupted. "Your Luke? What, sticky-up hair Luke? Looks a bit like a muppet Luke?" She answered back wittiness showing. "Yes. He just popped into my head. He's always had a crush on you." I let out with a smile. "Really?" "Yeah. Thinking of asking him to dinner. Are you free?" I questioned, setting the pair up. "Might be. Might have to freshen up a bit first." She giggled, pointing towards her cut face. "Yeah. You look shit." I joked to her, her sticking up her middle finger.
