Sorry for the long wait, life has been...interesting. So write this has been fun and hard. I needed the fun part because people I know are dying from old and cancer. So I will probably have to go to another funeral before the end of next month.

Alright, no more being a downer.

In her usual morning haze, Chloe woke up but that haze was quickly taken away by a cold snap. Lately, she had taken to sleeping in the same bed as Naruto, either at his place or he would sometimes come over and sleep in her bed. Despite the awkwardness of the first time, they were comfortable enough with each other than they just continued. After all, it wasn't much different than sleeping on the couch next to each other.

But that didn't happen last night and she found that she was missing his unnatural warmth. It was kinda sad.

"Oh good, you're awake." The voice of her mother stated. Looking up, she saw the woman leaning next to her door frame and examining fingernails nonchalantly. This...was odd. Her mom had been avoiding her as of late with this uncertain look. Chloe wanted to hate this woman, but could not. So she settled for passive indifference.

"What do you want, mother?"

"I think it is time we had that talk," Audrey stated as she crossed her arms and stared at her daughter. "You only went along with my selfish plan because you thought it would make me love you more?"

Chloe was quiet for a moment as she looked at her hands and not her mother. "Yes."

"Oh boy." Audrey sighed as she sat down on the white bench in front of Chloe's bed with her back to the girl. As she took off her designer sunglasses, she said, "I was never meant to be a mother and I can see that more clearly now. I...am sorry Chloe."

"Mom?"

"Honestly, my gland plan was to be a fiercely independent woman so I could be a fashion critic like I am now," Audrey confessed, making Chloe's eyes widen. "However, I met your father and we ended up challenging each other in our headstrong ways. It actually made me happy and we feel in love but after we married, he changed and I didn't know how to deal with it. He cared only for my happiness and I saw it as spineless and that he lost his edge. So a few years after you were born, I left for my career and I know that was not an excuse. I was just utterly confused and when I heard he ran for Mayor of Paris and won, that confusion only grew. That fierceness of his had returned, only to go away from her returned home to you or when I spoke with him on the phone." Audrey grumbled that part but Chloe still heard it.

"I sort of understand it now," Audrey confessed. "He only wanted our happiness and really didn't care for his own. I was not used to that growing up. My father was never in the picture and my own mother was a cold-hearted bitch. I learned from her a bit too much in that regard."
