Clutching the thin fabric of the dress she wore, as shiver raked through her small frame, her body curled up into a ball. She sat there, leaned up against the cold wooden frame of the swaying ship. The shackles that bound her wrists and ankles, began to form blisters every time she pulled against them. They were raw, droplets of blood seeped from them, staining her skin red. terrified, she was scared out of her mind. Suddenly taken from her home, her thoughts raced a mile a minute, thinking of the possibilities of what's to come.

The young man sat in his small boat, looking at the horizon. His hand sat atop his head clutching onto his precious treasure, a straw hat that was gifted to him by a man he respected, looked up too. Smiling sadly, he thought about the events that took place over the last decade. Thinking of that young girl that disappeared all those years ago. The promise they made still plagued his mind to this day. To one day leave their small town and explore the oceans together. Something that was so close yet so far.
A fleeting wish that slipped through his fingers...
