I'm a long sleeper not a deep sleeper, so obviously when I heard my dad pacing around our trailer non-stop I was already disturbed in my sleep so I thought to look for him. Turning my horrible bed head towards my bedside table I read 12:00 am of my old alarm clock. This was a normal occurance, and my dad always let me sleep how long I wanted, he would always be quiet too until he left for "work". His only request was that I keep everything up in school and don't turn into a depressed hobo and until now it has worked perfectly.
Throwing back my planket and getting out of bed, I was just as quick dressed and finished in the bathroom. I opended my bedroom door, only to stumble back cause I was nearly being run over by my dad. "Sorry boy, didn't see you there" I just blinked at him with wide eyes, did somebody get shot or does he have fire under his arse.
"Dad, don't tell me somebody fucked up a deal with the ghoulies again" I slightly groaned out. This has happened before and it was not a fun tour, especially for my dad since he is the retired serpent king. Yes you heard right, I got crowned the king a year ago and it has been great ever since. But since I am the retired serpent kings son, he still helps me out, if he thinks I need it. And if he is home. Since he retired he has been up and about, travelling and living his life and what not. Which is completely fine for me. He should finally be able to live a good life. But when he's home he tries his best to help me out the best he can. Most of the time I am perfectly fine managing on my own, but if it keeps his mind at peace then I won't stop him.
Rushing back to me I looked him up and down, only to be surprised to see him in one of his best blue dress pants matched with a black dress shirt. It's not like he dresses like a homeless on all of the other days, but normally he has more a badass look to it, like his leather jacket you get the drive. "Uhh yeah so I forgot to tell you a tiny little detail about today" He grinned sheepishly at me as he searched through the drawers. "And that is?" I answered as rummaging through out cabinets in the kitchen for some cereal. My life source.
"So I am meeting somebody today and she is really special to me and you'll be coming with" I wasn't prepared for that sentence and splashed nearly all of the milk past the bowl. "She?" I asked with a sharp tone. So that was he doing while he was "living his life"? There is no way my dad wouldn't tell me if he had met someone. Especially someone he started to like and especially a "she". As you can guess me and my dad are rather close. The serpents, our hard and destructive past and us being the only two of our family left, glued us together like to broken pieces of glass.
"Yes, look son...ah there they are" He mumbled as he found the car keys. Car keys? Why not his motorcycle? The car was in the garage since forever, cause we always used our motorcycles. "Yes she is...my girlfriend, I'm sorry I didn't tell you...I forgot." I raised an eyebrow at my dad, he was lying. "You...forgot?" I said sarcastically as I finally finished to wipe up all the spilled milk on the counter. I grabbed a spoon and turned around with the bowl in my hand, leaning against the counter with my back. He let's out a sigh finally stopping to go crazy around our home and sits down opposite of me on the dining table. He didn't start talking so I just started to savour my delicous fruit loops, because if not I might just starve.
"Maybe I didn't forget" He stated lowely. "Oh, really?" I mumbled sarcastically with my mouth full. In all those years of just the two of us my dad and I formed a relationship like two best friends. I knew him like the back of my hand and so does he.
"Look, you know the thing with your mom did us both not well and I thought maybe it was too quick in your eyes for me to move on and also, I didn't want to tell you without knowing if it's even going to last you know?" My dad explained toying with the buttons on his shirt. Must be weird for him to be so dressed up. Finishing my cereal, I placed it in the sink with a sigh. "Look dad, you could've just told me. Mom did you no good so I would be so happy for you to finally find someone to love you as much as you love her" I explained to him while starting to clean the kitchen.
"I don't wanna sound stupid but I am a bit annoyed you didn't tell me about her." I said a bit disappointed. "The only condition I have is, that if I see she doesn't love you really, we have to find another way. I don't want to see you hurt like that again".
"Deal. And I'm sorry for that I didn't tell you really." He smiled apologetically.
"So tell me it, where do we have to be today?"
