Carlos opened his eyes the next day, he turned to the side on the bed but only to meet an empty sheet. He jerked up immediately, his eyes scanning the whole room. When there was no sign of who he wanted to see, he jumped out of the bed, picked up his jeans from the floor and hastily put it on. He opened the bathroom door but it was empty and he left the room almost immediately.
"Elaine?" He called as he walked into the living room, his heart was in his throat. Did he say something else last night? Why did she leave him then?
He heard a clanking sound coming from the kitchen, he quickly changed his direction to the kitchen and when he got there, he saw the figure he so longs to see. A smile graced his lips and he tiptoed quietly to her and hugged her from behind.
Elaine shrieked, dropping the pot cover she was holding with a clanking sound. Carlos chuckled and nuzzle his face on her neck, his breath teasing her skin, his lips placed a soft kiss on her neck and he watched with delight as the goosebumps appeared, "Tom, how could you scare me like that?" She asked in between feigning annoyance and chuckling.
"You started it" he mumbled.
"How?"
"I woke up to find the bed empty. You almost gave me heart attack."
Elaine giggled, "how is that my fault? Who was it that had me clammed up in his arms last night, claiming I won't be able to get away from him this morning?"
Carlos pouted his lips, he can't refute that and it's also not his fault that he tends to sleep deeply especially when his mind is at peace, "you sneaked out of my arms, how was I supposed to know?"
"Well that's the thing about being a light sleeper, you tends to wake up at the littlest of movement" she explained.
"Well, I never said I'm a silent sleeper, did I?" He kissed her neck again, breathing in her natural floral scent which always drives him insane.
Elaine shivered and tried to shield her neck from his soft teases, "I need to continue making breakfast."
"I know and I'm not complaining."
"You mind leaving me to do that?"
"No, I love my position a lot" he mumbled.
"If we continue like this then we are both going to be late for work today."
"I don't mind and I'm sure Ben wouldn't either and you, it's not like the Mayor is going to come checking on the time you opened the library."
Elaine chuckled "and what if he happens to do so today hmm?"
He trailed kisses on her neck and softly sucked on her earlobe. Elaine tilted her head to deny him access, "he wouldn't" he said and still continued trailing kisses on her skin.
"Tom" she called with her voice mixed with passion and a moan "don't do this."
"Why shouldn't I, hmm?" He released her from his deadly teases, watching her side view.
She licked her lower lip, biting it in the process "because I'm cooking and you really don't want us to be late to work."
He twirled her around to face him, he smiled when she avoided to look at him, "what's the matter little one, tired of my face already?" He chuckled while she rolled her eyes "you don't have to be, because you are going to be seeing it forever" he kissed her forehead. His words got her to look at him.
What does he mean?
Could it be he is thinking about marrying her?
She felt her heart fluttering at the thought and had to stop herself from thinking too much. She mustn't hold any hope so that she won't be disappointed in the end. A soft feelings coming from her lips brought her out of her thought, only for her to notice that Tom was kissing her.
