I stood next to Noah as we both looked around to take in the scenery. Instead of standing in the palace that we called our home, we were now standing outside of a tall palace that looked nothing like ours. I stared at the tall bricks walls to the palace as royal guards wearing navy blue stood near the entrance. Turning around, I could see a large gate surrounding the palace as 6 guards stood outside of the gate and looked towards a huge bridge. Outside of the gates were burnt down buildings and garbage. There were statues smashed in pieces and laid everywhere. Besides the guards that seemed to be on duty, there were others who walked around and helped citizens elsewhere.
They had been attacked.
"Welcome to Runne!" Hope said as she stood next to me with a warm smile on her face.
"Hey!" I heard a voice shout. Looking up, I could see 3 girls who looked like triplets standing on the balcony. 2 of the girls had a white streak in their hair but on different parts of their hair while the other had jet black hair. "Bring them up here!"
"Follow me." Hope said before walking forward. I looked around still in amazement and confusion. The guards refused to look Noah and I's way leaving me in even more confusion. As I prepared to say something, I could feel Noah's hand gently grace mine.
"We're in another dimension surrounded by odd people." He started. "Do not let go of my hand."
"Are you scared?" I teased.
Noah scoffed. "They're the ones who should be scared."
We entered the palace and were immediately lead up a huge staircase and towards a office. I took a deep breath as we stood outside of a door. I could hear the sounds of arguing on the other side as Hope gave me a sad look.
"I apologize for this. I have no idea why they think that arguing is the best way to solve this." She said.
"Solve what?" I asked. "What has happened here?"
"Is it okay if I bring you both in one by one? I don't want them to go crazy."
"Fuck no!" Noah said as he stepped forward and gently moved me behind him. "After what I just saw outside? You think I'll let go of my wife?"
Before he could get any angrier, I placed a hand on his chest. Noah looked down at me before breathing in and out to calm himself down. Hope stood in the same spot with a worried expression on her face. She looked beyond exhausted by the wrinkles and dark circles around her eyes.
"It's okay." I reassured to Noah. "I'll just see what's happening."
He looked back and forth between Hope and I before nodding his head. I gave his hand a quick squeeze before following Hope into the office. I looked around the huge office in awe. There was book shelf that contained plenty of books, a huge desk, chairs in the corner of the room, a beautiful brown carpet throughout the entire entrance, a large chandelier that looked to be made of crystals, and a large door that had white curtains blowing since the doors were open.
I watched as the 3 girls stopped their deep discussion and watched me with squinted eyes making the room extremely uncomfortable for me. Hope awkwardly looked towards me before raising her eyebrows and speaking.
"This is Ororo." She introduced. Turning turned faced them, I put on a fake smile and waved. One of the girls shook her head. She wore jeans and an oversized grey sweater. Despite dressing comfortable, I could tell that she was going through it.
"Our kingdom was just attacked. I'm not going to ask citizens to fight." She announced.
Ask? Citizen? Who did she think she was?
