I stared at my hands for a few minutes before I broke the silence looming around us.
"I don't know there to start." I said. It came out as more of a raspy whisper. Why is my voice so God damn soft? I cleared my throat and continued fidgeting.

Rachel grabbed my hands and spoke to me in a soft and gentle tone while keeping eye contact with me before I broke it.
"Freya. We've known each other a long time. You can trust me and tell me whatever you want to, there's no pressure Frey. But please, look at me Frey. I'm not scary. I'm just me."
That was kinda cute and I used all the strength I had left not to smile at her. Instead, I nodded and looked at her but winced because I turned my head too fast.

Immediately she say up and cupped my face in her soft, warm and delicate hands.

"Are you okay? What happened?" concern and worry dripped from her voice as she stared at me.

"My neck and back are still a little sore from the last time I saw my 'father'. Which apparently was 2 weeks ago." I saw as I stared at her alluring eyes.

"So that's how you ended up here?" her eyebrow raised as she stared at me before sitting back down.

"No. Well yes. I want to know what happened after you found my bag. I'll tell you everything after. I swear." I really need to know what she knows before I say anything else.

She nodded and moved from the chair to sit on the bed, still maintaining a slight distance between us.

"Well I looked through it and found your address. I realized you lived right next to my best friend, Aria. So I decided to drop the bag off at your place. I drove your car there because I didn't want to leave it outside at the school. I parked it off in the parking slot for your condo and Allison drove me to fetch my car before we went back to your building. I stayed at her place seeing as she's right next to you, that way I would hear you come home when you eventually did. But you didn't. At around one in the morning, I needed some air so I went outside into the corridor that connects you guys and saw you there. You looked dead. You were just laying there. Not moving. I didn't even know you if you were breathing so I ran over to you." she wiped at her cheeks as a few stray tears rolled down them form her glossy eyes.

"Anyway I called 911 and I rode to the hospital with you in the ambulance. I made sure the doctors had you before I came back and went through your bag for ID and I came across a journal. I went back to the hospital to fill in the forms and then as I was waiting, I saw your diary. I know I broke your trust by reading it and I'm sorry but I needed to know what happened to you. The last entry in there was the first day of school. You talked about avoiding me as much as possible which didn't work out too well considering your only classes left to graduate both belong to me. And then I came across the abuse. I read most of it, not all but most. That's all I know."

Wow.

She knows quite alot.

Well I guess it's my turn to fill in her gaps. I know I'm not obligated to say anything but I want to. I need to. I need to do this for me.

Taking a deep breath, I started.

"I've been living on my own since the second day of school. I turned 18 over the break and I can make my own legal decisions. As for how I can afford it, I've worked for about 3 years now. Just odd jobs here and there and I own a few shares here and there. With all of that I was able to pay for my home. As for how I'll pay my way out of this lovely hospital stay, I'm clueless."

I'm going to be in so much debt when this is over. God. I need to get health insurance. I started panicking thinking about the costs and tried to get up to leave but Ms Mey- Rachel held my forearm and told me to lie back down.
