It was getting close to nightfall, and Amelia decided it was best to leave their safespot, and go out onto the road. They had found Amelia's stash of weapons, it was small and only had a bow with some arrows, a thin sword, and a knife. Amelia handed the bow to Arabella, stating she knew that her lady could handle it without issues. Her words exactly were "Agatha told me you once out hunted your brothers and father, you would be the best one to handle it if things go south".
Arabella had never been so glad to have someone in her corner like Amelia. She trusted her, and knew that if things got bad she could rely on her. The two walked in the night staying off the main roads and traveling deeper into the woods. Arabella began to wonder about her sisters. Were they alive, was her father alive? What was going on in Kings' Landing with her gone.
Arabella was informed that the knights were meant to murder her, not bring her before the weasel of a king. She began to wonder under whose orders they really were, was it the King's or Cersei's. She was betting it was the latter of the two. Arabella wondered what would be safer for her. Find her brother in the North or was she to go south and try to find her husband? These are the thoughts that she pondered overnight, she nearly asked Amelia for her thoughts but decided against it. she decided she would wait till morning to find out what they should do. Would her husband believe her and protect her against his sister, or would he sell her out like common filth.
The two girls walked in silence until the sun was starting to rise and the kingdom was far away in the distance. The two girls walked until mid morning still within the woods, before stopping. Tired, thirsty, hungry, and hot. They knew they needed to get further away, but they also needed a break or food. The girls opened one of the packs they were carrying. Within the bag there was bread, fruit, and 2 water skins. The girls split some of the water out of a water skin and each ate a fruit deciding that the bread wouldn't go bad for a couple of days. After they were feed and drank some water, they sat a little longer, and Arabella decided it was time to question the plan.
"Where are we going," she asked.
"North, I do not think your husband will be too kind to taking you in after you've been charged with treason," Ameila answered.
"I was only charged because the queen hates me," Arabella told her.
"Well, I'm glad you knew that. I was going to hate to give you some bad news, that lady hates your guts. I was always wondering what did you do to her," she asked.
"Married her brother. Remind her husband of his dead lover. Oh and marry her childrens' father," Arabella told her not holding anything back.
"So your father was telling the truth," Ami asked.
"Yes, he was. I guess when we get back home I can read this letter he gave me on my wedding day. He told me to wait until I was safe, but I don't know what it entails," Bella tells her companion.
"Let's stay off the roads for the time being. Are you good with hunting," Ami asks.
"I'm from the North, you have to hunt to eat some times,"
"Well, let's travel closer to darkness and earlier in the day. This way we can stay hidden and still be able to see where we are going,"
"That is the safest option. Having a torch on us while we walk in the night is like attracting fish with a worm on the hook plus we can use the sun for better directions, unless you can read the stars," Bella said.
"Not too well, I'm afraid. You may be better at that," Ami says with a chuckle. Arabella laughed as well, stating she wasn't too great at it as well.
The two girls sat around a bit longer until the sun was beginning to set. Then the two started on their trek to the North where hopefully they can get some help and protection.
Over the next three weeks the girls had run out of food and were beginning to hunt for their meals. They had stayed in the woods like they had planned on, and thankfully have not run into anyone yet. The air around the girls was beginning to get cooler, but they both knew they were in the south. Their clothes were dirty and torn. Their hair had twigs, leaves, and dirt within them. One thing that had started to come about was silvery baby hairs sprouting from Arabella's head. The two girls chalked it up to stress when they first noticed it, but as time went on the baby hairs got more noticeable. The girls began placing dirt along Arabella's hair line, trying to hide the hairs. Sadly their luck was about to change, and the woods were no longer safe for the two girls.
It began when the girls awoke to the sounds of drums playing, the beat strong and steady. It was a tune the Arabella could have sworn she remembered, but with each passing day she questioned what was real and not. It had been midday when the girls were surrounded, the people dressed in armor, with a fish upon them. Her uncle's kingdom, Arabella thought. She could have sworn they were further North than that has they were within seeing distance of the twins.
The two girls knowing that they were needed to put their weapons down nodded to each other and did just that.
"You are with the house of Tully , am I correct," Arabella asked. Her head up high meeting the eyes of one of the soldiers.
"Yes, who are you," a voice that she had once known called out.
"Well, uncle. I'm surprised you can't recognise your own flesh in front of you," Arabella sassed back her Right eyebrow going up.
"My own flesh is back at the camp, and the rest is in Kings Landing. Who are you," called out a man. He stood tall with his black armor and grey hair. This was her uncle, Brynden Tully, who stood before her.
"Arabella Stark. I am trying to get home dear uncle to Winterfell," she said back. A small gasp was heard, one of a soft womanly voice.
"Let me through," it called out. After a moment a lady she had known for all her life came through. Her hair was as fiery red as the day Arabella left her home. Lady Catelyn Stark stood there mere feet away, nearly within arms length. Catelyn's grey eyes held tears in them as she saw the young woman before her.
"Mother," Arabella questioned, hoping that this was truly her mother before her. As soon as her mother took in Arabella's words and appearance she ran towards her, taking her quickly within her arms with a tight squeeze. Arabella returned the hug back, squeezing just as tightly.
"How did you get away," Catelyn asked.
"I had help, Ameila found me before the guards did. They had orders to kill me on the spot. So we left Kings Landing and were coming North, where I could be safe. I'm sorry for making you worry," Arabella told her.
"It's okay, Rob will be so happy to see you. Let's get you back to camp and cleaned up," Catelyn said, urging her daughter forward before looking back to the girl who was with her daughter.
"Thank you for watching out for her. You will always have a place with us, if you wish," Catelyn said, "Come let's get you a bath as well".
Both girls followed the band of men towards their camp, with the thoughts of getting cleaned up and a hot meal sounding like the best thing in the world.
