Chapter 4: Restless [009]

"Well well well if it isn't the lovely couple," Soonyoung snickered. "Ha ha, very funny," Jun blushed a bit. Minghao just stared at the boy, too tired to respond. "Hey Hao," Jun called, "wanna skip first period?" Minghao's eyes widened at the words, momentarily snapping out of his sleepy mood. "Are you crazy," he scolded. "Your first is a study hall anyway tho-" Jun was cut off by his best friend's comeback. "Yea and I have studying to do," he snapped. "But we don't have any tests-" Jun stated. "Okay but I still have to study," the younger protested. "No!" the older shouted, "You need rest. Now you are going to skip. And you are going to rest. Any studying you need to do can be done later. Is that understood?!" Minghao was at a lost of words, he could do was nod. Just then the bell rung, signalling for first period to start. The walked out of the classroom before the teacher could catch them and made their way to the roof.

"Jun-" Minghao was interrupted by Jun's rambling. "No ifs, ands, or buts about it you will rest I'm 99% sure MiMi Teacher-Nim is doing mental back flips right now, knowing that you're resting instead of slaving away in study hall," he said. "Did you just call Ms. Lee 'MiMi Teacher-Nim'?" Minghao tilted his head in confusion. "Yes I did now come," Jun motioned the younger to come rest on his shoulder but instead he came and laid his head across his lap. Jun smiled and patted him on the head as he watched him peacefully fall asleep.

Just then, the door to the roof opened and through it came a girl in distress. She walked over to the ledge, placed her cheek on her palm, and stared down at the sights below. She sighed and it was like an alarm to Minghao's ears because he woke up out of his sleep.

"Someone's in distress," he said, popping his head up. "What are you, a superhero? Go back to sleep," Jun demanded. Defying his older's orders, he got up and walked over to the girl. "You okay?" he asked. The girl sighed, "My brother didn't come home last night," she stated, "I went to look for him in his homeroom but he wasn't there. And the only friend he's seemed to have made doesn't know where he is either. This isn't like him," she added. Minghao saddened at her words. I'd lose my shit if one of the kids went missing. He looked at the girl, contemplating whether to hug her or not and then he realized something. 

Oh shit. "Wait," he said, "aren't you Wonwoo's sister? Somin, right?" he asked. "Yea. Why?" she asked, "Do you know where he is?!" Minghao sighed, bracing himself for her reaction after he tells her. "He's..." he sighed, "He's in the hospital." Somin's eyes widened, filled with both heartache and rage, "What happened to him?" Minghao sighed again before explaining what happened. "Who did it?" her expression turned cold, like her brother's. "I don't know, I wish I did," he lowered his head. 

"We'll find out who did it, don't worry," Jun walked up to the two and placed his hand on Somin's shoulder. Somin looked up at the latter, "Let me help." "No," Minghao said, "the last thing he'd want is for you to get involved in anything." "But-" she sighed, "Fine, you're right." "Don't worry, we'll handle it," Jun reassured. "Now Hao...for the love of God please SLEEP," Jun gave Minghao a concerned look. "Fine..." Minghao waved goodbye to Somin before lying back down on Jun's lap. "Take care," he said as if she were a sibling of his own. She looked back at him and sighed before letting out a soft, "Thanks."

Somin had left the roof and Jun and Minghao were the only two once again. "Sleep, please," Jun said caressing the younger's hair. "...okay..." Minghao sighed before shutting his eyes, eventually dosing off. "Cute," Jun smiled as he continued to caress his best friend's hair.

"Hey you!" a loud, feminine scream made Minghao jump out of his sleep. All he could see when he opened his eyes was Soonyoung getting tugged by the ear. "Wah! I'm not Jimin! You can't just harass me like this Jeongyeon!" Soonyoung whined. "Can you please explain to me why I saw Somin skipping class with Jun?!" Jeongyeon yelled. "Uh, um...maybe they're dating?" Soonyoung shrugged his shoulders. "You little-" she pulled his ear until it turned red. "Ow ow ow, I don't know okay! Ask Minghao!" Soonyoung rubbed his ear. The two looked at Minghao, hoping he had an answer.

Well, Somin is too upset about her brother to go to classes. And as the people who helped him, we have a responsibility for his sister. I can't skip because I care about my grades but Jun doesn't care so he's watching over her. Minghao thought to himself before answering the two bickering in front of him. "Maybe they're dating?" he shrugged his shoulders. Jeongyeon sighed ask Soonyoung said, "See? See?! Even the best friend said it!" She then hit him on the back of the head. 

Just then Jun and Somin came to the lunch table. "Came to get your boyfriend I see," Soonyoung teased as Jun and Minghao both blushed a bit, "I mean best friend," he corrected himself with a snicker. "You two!" Jeongyeon yelled, "Mind explaining why you to are skipping classes together?" "Uhm, maybe we're dating," Jun shrugged his shoulders. 

Jeongyeon was about to hit him when he pointed behind her, "Oh look it's Jimin being annoying," he said causing the angry girl to humph and walk away. "Thank God that worked," Soonyoung sighed in relief, "she kept grilling me about you two." "Speaking of which," he placed his hand on his chin in curiosity, "Why did you two skip classes together? I covered for you without even knowing what I was covering for."

"Hmm," Jun thought. "If you say you're dating I swear-" Soonyoung threatened. "Welp, there goes my only excuse," Jun shrugged, "Let's go Hao," he said before walking off, leaving Soonyoung speechless.

"Somin? What are you doing here by yourself?" Minghao asked. Him and Jun walked into Wonwoo's hospital room and was surprise at the sight of Somin. "The hospital called my mom and we came here," she answered. "Mom had to leave for something that happened at work so I decided to stay." "Do you have a ride home?" Jun asked, "We can bring you home later if you want." "Thanks," she said in a sad tone. Minghao looked at her, looked at her unconscious brother in the hospital bed , then looked back at her. He sighed.
