The nine to five lifestyle is something Jin knew would be his life for as long as he could remember. As his parents expectations were high, the importance of work was drilled into him for all of his life, starting from elementary school, when his father would scold him for not being the best in class.
His grades weren't bad, they were rather good actually, but as his father liked to say, "good isn't good enough." So Jin spent his time studying, studying and more studying, until he was old enough to start as an intern in a company. Then it became studying, and work.
Now at 28, he's made it far, having secured himself a place on the board of directors, which must be the most boring job ever, to him at least.
The nine to five lifestyle for him is more like a nine to ten in the evening. It's tiresome, the documents, finances, board meetings, everything. If he could have it his way, then he would probably be an actor or something, but his father's wrath had kept him in line all his life.
[few days later] It's one of those evenings again, where Jin is stuck in his office. It's nearing ten again, and he can't concentrate. Whether because he's tired or because his mind keeps taking off towards all these self-pitying thoughts.
He's not even good at his job. Jin isn't a natural born leader like his parents would want him to be, and he doesn't trust himself with important decisions at all.
How he made it this far is beyond him. Jin sighs as he takes a look at the clock on the wall and drops his pen. He loosens his tie and leans back in his chair, running his hands through his neatly styled, brown hair.
He doesn't even live at home anymore, he can do whatever he wants. Why his parents still have so much power over him is a mystery.
There's a knock on his door, he sits up straight, grabbing his pen again and acts like he's deeply invested into those documents littering his desk.
"Come in." Jin doesn't need to look up to know that it's his secretary, Jungkook, and also his only friend.
"It's late." Jin nods.
He doesn't know why he's still acting as if he's leading the documents, Jungkook knows him better than anyone, so he naturally knows of Jin's distaste for his job.
"I know." Jin replies, looking up.
Jungkook leans against the door frame, raising an eyebrow at him.
"If you know you shouldn't be here, your shifted ended at five. You need to rest old man," He grins.
"I should fire you."
"You won't You'll be lonely."
He's right.
Not that Jin would fire someone over something silly as calling him an old man, but even then, he would only hurt himself by throwing his friend out to the streets.
He'd be totally lost without Jungkook.
"Will you stop bugging me if i go home?"
"I'll stop if you go home AND take a day off."
Jungkook replies as he walks to Jin's desk and leans against it.
"Actually, I already arranged your day off, so have as much vacation time as you want. And don't look at me like that. You need time to rest."
Jin tries and stare him down, but he wont budge.
"I should really fire you." Jin grumbles, packing up his stuff. Maybe he really needs this, and should at least enjoy it.
He cant even remember the last time he took a day off.
"You wouldn't, Boss hyun, you love me to much."
