"Nah, you guys go on," You call back, smiling and waving at them while you sit on a towel beside Petra.
"So, how's it goin?" she asks, smiling at you while she adjusts her floppy, wide brimmed hat so that she can see you from underneath it. She pops a grape into her mouth while she waits for you to respond.
"I'm doing alright, what about you?" you say in response.
"Pretty good. It's really hot today," she laughs, pushing her shades up her nose and leaning back onto the sheltered beach towel.
"Yeah, it is," you nod at her, reaching into the enormous bag of grapes and popping a couple into your mouth.
"Too hot to be February," she says, shaking her head and jokingly flipping off the sun. "This is what August is for."
"Yeah, seriously," you snort.
"So, (y/n)," Petra says, pulling the bag of grapes onto her lap for easier access. "What kinda music do you listen to?"
A) Country
B) Oldies
C) Rock/ Punk Rock/ Metal
D) Pop
E) Rap/ Hip-Hop
F) Some kind of a mix.
"Oh, okay cool. I definitely can't pick a genre most of the time," she grins after hearing your answer. "Oh, and just cuz I have these grapes, doesn't mean they're all mine. Take as many as you want."

You take what you want and Petra smiles politely at you. "There's more food you can have in the cooler if you need anything," she offers.
"So, what was it like living away for so long?"

"I see," she hums to herself. "Well I guess you've got a point. I try to see the good in things most of the time, but I absolutely hated living in New York. Sure the parties were nice, and it was always fun to get high with Levi," she says, and you remember that Eren had told you that Petra and Levi were friends before Levi had ever even met Eren. "But, I guess it gets kinda exhausting out there after a while."
"What do you mean by that?" you push.
"There's too much to explain over a beach trip," she sighs, shaking her head. "Some other time? If we did a more, uh, one-on-one type of thing, maybe we could, you know, uh, get to know each other better," she suggests, looking towards the ocean, and you aren't sure whether her cheeks are red from the heat or from a blush of some kind.
"Shit, guys did you see us out there?!" Jean shouts as the three boys approach the shore.
"The hell about us," Rivaille mutters. "Did you see the fuckin' shark?"
"Yeah, there was a shark, a little ways past the buoys," Eren explains, pointing towards the buoys where they'd been swimming.
"Really?!" You exclaim while the boys begin to explain the events to Mikasa and her girlfriend, who show up from behind the others. During the chaos, Petra turns to you and asks.
"So, how about it? Wanna hang out sometime? Just the two of us?"
