Chapter 12: Twelve

A/N Here's a long overdue update! 

A few minutes after Chase leaves I get up and grab my stuff too. Can't stay in the dining hall forever even though I wish I could.

Instead of going straight back to my dorm, I decide to walk around campus a bit and take in some fresh air. I soon find a walking path next to the soccer field and begin my trek, just walking around, taking in my surroundings.

I walk for what seems like hours when my phone lights up and I realize it's only been twenty minutes. Well so much for spending my whole day out here. I look down at my phone to see a text from Becca: a simple Good Morning. I quickly reply and keep walking.

I wait for her reply and as I do I can feel the southern heat getting to me as the sun continues to rise. Yep, it's time to go inside.

I begin retracing my steps and walking in the direction of my dorm. I get another text from Becca and right as I look down I collide with another body and quickly I trip over them.

I look up from the ground to see a pretty girl that resembles Alex quite a bit with her dark hair and pale skin. "Oh my gosh I'm so sorry," She says stumbling over her words before reaching out a hand to help me up. I accept her hand and shake my head at her, "No it was completely my fault I was looking down,"

I get up and brush off my pants while the girl continues to look at me. I raise an eyebrow at her and she blushes from what I'm guessing could only be embarrassment. "I'm sorry you're just so pretty. Like model pretty. Ugh I know I probably sound like I dork. Let me stop talking,"

I break out into a smile and laugh at her silently picking out something to compliment her on in my head, "Oh my gosh thank you. Stop it you're gonna make me blush," I say smiling at her continuing, "I love your shoes by the way but from where you're going I don't think they'll do so well on that dirt path," She looks down to her heels and shakes her head before saying, "Oh no I'm not here to walk or anything. This is where I come to smoke actually. Hey, you're more than welcome to join me,"

I smile at her offer but shake my head, "I totally would but I can't stay out here any longer the heat is getting to me". She nods her head before saying, "No I totally get you. I'm Courtney by the way...here," She starts digging in her small bookbag before taking out her phone. "Add me on Snapchat," She says handing me her phone.

I quickly type in my Snapchat and add myself before saying, "I'm Alexis. It's nice to meet you. Well, I'll let you get to it. Have fun be responsible," Courtney smiles a bit before saying her goodbyes.

We both walk in our different directions and my phone lights up from a Snapchat notification from Courtney. The black screen has nothing but the words I hope I wasn't being too weird. I smile knowing that I was probably the weird one in that interaction I mean I ran headfirst into her.

I pull down my notification bar and remember what caused our little bump into each other: a text from Becca. I know we said we could talk tomorrow but is it cheesy to say I already miss you? Wanna come over? No pressure or anything we don't have to have THE talk you can just come over and hang. I smile at her text just imagining her biting her lip as she typed it out to me. I text back I can come over. I'll be there in 30. I send the text knowing that I need to take another shower as my shirt starts sticking to my back, like I said this heat is terrible.

I walk back into my room and see Meredith laying on her bed on her phone.

"Hey," She says as I walk in. I give her a small smile before getting another towel and making sure I grab some clothes too.

"So um you know the guy I was with earlier?" She asks me looking up from her phone.

"Sort've. Um, you remember that date I went on a few days? Yeah it was with him," Meredith gasps before jumping off of her bed and coming over to me, "Wait I didn't know you knew him in THAT way. Oh my gosh Alexis I am SO SORRY. I had no idea. I feel terrible,"
