𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗡𝗘𝗫𝗧 𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗣 [𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗲𝗱𝗲𝘀 𝗷𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘀]

*time skip to doctor's office*

Mercedes was waiting outside in the waiting room for Quinn to tell her the results when she saw a tall man and a short, pregnant woman walking by.

"Jesse? Rachel?" she said.

Rachel stopped as she heard Mercedes call her name.

"Mercedes, hi!" she said, running over.

"How are you?" Jesse asked.

"Fine," she answered stiffly.

It was a stupid thing to hold a grudge about but she didn't like Jesse, hadn't liked him since he rejected her performance in favor of Rachel's, calling her lazy.

"Why are you here? Are you going to have a baby?" Rachel asked, eyes shining.

She had always had a dream that she and one of her friends would have a baby at the same time as her and they would swap parenting stories and be the cute, stereotypical, pregnant best friends.

"No," Mercedes replied.

"Quinn's having the baby. Well, we don't know yet, that's why we came."

Rachel's eyes widened.

"Quinn, as in Quinn Fabray?"

Mercedes nodded.

"So you lasted through high school, what an achievement," she smirked.

"I thought you would only last a month, Santana said a week."

Mercedes laughed.

"Well, good luck on your baby, Rachel," she said.

Rachel looked a bit taken aback.

Mercedes opened and closed her mouth and realized that she meant what she said.

Rachel might've been an awful, controlling, whiny, bossy, sometimes racist diva, but she deserved a good motherhood. Didn't everyone?

She felt Rachel move a bit closer to her.

"I'm going to hug you now, okay?" she said quietly.

"Okay," Mercedes replied softly.

Rachel's tiny arms wrapped around Mercedes.

The petite diva stood on her tiptoes and hugged her.

Mercedes felt the itchy fabric of Rachel's brown reindeer sweater rub against her.
The oversize polyester barely hid a baby bump.
She hugged Rachel and Rachel pulled away.

She waved goodbye to Mercedes just as Quinn burst out of a room, flinging the door aside.

"I'm having the baby!"
