Initially this was a flashback for the now second short story of this series, but it got long and out of hand so ended up here. The literal inspiration for this mini-series was this picture...

Setting - mid May 2008. Steps have split up as they did in reality, though Lisa is at the wedding.

Faye:
I felt like a princess, all dressed up, all made up, my hair all styled within an inch of its life. It felt odd being dressed up so pretty and having been fussed over given I hadn't done it really since the Steps split, but it was my big day. The day I'd marry my Prince Charming. My Lee.
"You ready Fuf?" Lisa asked as she came up behind me while I admired myself in the mirror.
I nodded. "As ready as I will ever be." I replied.
My sister, Clare, smiled at me, hugging me and kissing the air just a few millimetres from my cheek. "Look at you all grown up and getting married before me. Who's the big sister around here again? I seem to have forgotten." She teased. I knew she'd be like it, she was two years older and still had never managed to get a relationship that lasted.
"My baby girl's all dressed up and ready I see." My dad said.
I took one last look at myself. The last time I'd call myself Faye Tozer was finally here after months, if not years of anticipation. From now on it'd be Tozer-Evans, though we hadn't told anyone from our families that yet. "I'm so ready." I replied.
Lisa hugged me. "Good luck, I'm so happy for you both." I hugged her back, enjoying the moment.
Clare hugged me, and I hugged her too. "I love you, and you always make me so proud." She whispered.

I looked at my dad as he took my arm and felt tears building in my eyes.
"I love you daddy." I said to him. I hadn't called him daddy in years, but it just felt like it had to be done today.
"I love you too my baby girl." He replied. We smiled at each other and I looked down the aisle. Towards my future with Lee. He'd said ever since that day how much he thought I was beautiful when he'd looked round to see me walking down the aisle in the long white strapless dress and with my hair all gently curled and mostly hanging loose. In that moment, I'd thought he was pretty hansom too in his neat suit, and had been reminded of all the reasons I'd fallen in love with him to begin with.
My dad let me go and kissed my cheek, and Lee took my hand as I took up my place beside him. We smiled at each other, a silent communication that said a thousand words. We'd been waiting for this for so long, and for both of us the idea of this day had kept us going long after Steps had split up. Even if it had taken us six and a half years to get to this point. Today was the day, this was the moment, it was finally here.

"Do you, Faye Tozer, take Lee Latchford-Evans to be your lawful wedded husband? To honour and obey and to love in sickness and in health? To promise to love him as you love no other?"
I glanced up at Lee and smiled. I was so happy it was finally happening I could hardly find the two simple words I needed. "I do."
He smiled back and carefully slipped the ring onto my finger.
"And do you Lee Latchford-Evans take Faye Tozer to be your lawful wedded wife? To love her as no other? To cherish and protect and to love her in sickness and in health?"
I played with the ring between my thumb and my finger as Lee looked at me. "I do." He replied. I slipped the ring onto his finger, we both smiled at one and other, and as I looked at him I got lost in his eyes like I so often did.
"Before these witnesses, I now pronounce you man and wife, Lee you may kiss the bride."
Lee and I lent in towards each other, his hands found their way to my waist and mine found their way to his shoulders, I closed my eyes and very softly our lips met. The contact sent a rush though my body in a way it had never managed to before, as if suddenly everything was better than before just because now we wore the rings that bound us to one and other for life. Our friends and family clapped. We pulled away from each other and he took hold of my hand and we turned to face our family. I looked over at him like a lovesick puppy and he smiled at me.
"Well it looks like you're stuck with me now." He whispered in my ear.
"Ah well it can't be as bad as being stuck with me." I replied with a smug smile.
