3rd POV
The entire table was silent when they heard the request from Treyni. (Y/N) blinked a few times before asking slowly, “You wish for me to defeat the Orc Lord?” Treyni nodded and smiled brightly at (Y/N), “Yes, that’s right.” As (Y/N) thought Benimaru bravely placed himself in front of (Y/N), not caring he was standing up against a superior monster, “That’s quite a selfish request from someone who just appeared out of nowhere. Treyni the Dryad. Why have you come here? There are races far stronger than Goblins.”
Treyni completely agreed with Benimaru’s statement, “Yes, that is true. If the Ogres’ homeland had been at full strength, perhaps I would have gone there.” Treyni ignored the shocked looks of the Kijin as she placed her attention on (Y/N), who was drinking her tea, “Though, even if I had done that, I still could not have ignored this individual’s existence. Were our settlement to be attacked by the Orc Lord, the Dryads could not hope to fight them alone. This is why I have come to request assistance from someone strong.”
(Y/N) gently placed her tea down as she spoke, while Ezume kindly refilled her cup back up, “The idea that an Orc Lord even existed was just a theory to us… However, you Dryads know essentially everything that happens in the Great Forest of Jura. So if you say he exists, then we must be weary.” Treyni smiled as she picked up a chip from a bowl on the table and happily munched on it, “Yep. He is real.” The people in the room whispered to each other about the grave situation they were in but quickly went silent and looked towards (Y/N) for guidance.
(Y/N) slowly spoke as she picked up her cup once more, “Give me time to answer. I will help the Kijin with their desires, however, it must be done in a way where little to no casualties happen to my people. That is the way I rule. Let me look through the information we have once more before answering. I must pray to my gods as well. For now, why don’t you join us, Treyni, in our meeting? You may be able to provide with some information we do not yet have.” Treyni seemed slightly surprised at (Y/N)’s calm attitude, but regained her composure and smiled at her as she took her seat next to Rigurd and Kaijin.
Once everyone settled back down in their seats, (Y/N) glanced at Treyni with a questioning look as she sipped her tea, “Do you perhaps know why the Orcs are invading? I am more inclined to think they are the way they are because they are starving.” Shuna stared at (Y/N) in confusion, “Starving? What makes you say that, Great (Y/N)?” Placing the cup back down, (Y/N) spoke her thoughts, “Why else would such a race, whom you all say is a weak race, become so desperate and strong. They also seem to lack emotions as they devour anyone and anything. It seems to me that maybe doing all of this because they had no choice. This world is cruel. Survival of the fittest, is it not?”
Suddenly Treyni spoke, stopping anyone from speaking, “Unique skill… Starved.” Seeing (Y/N)’s questioning look, Treyni went more in-depth with her explanation, “It’s a skill that the Orc Lord, a calamity that brings chaos to the world, is born with. Its influence reaches all those who serve under him, making them devour everything in sight, like locusts. At the same time, they consume the victim’s strength and abilities, making them their own sustenance. It’s quite similar to your Predator skill. In return for obtaining Starved, they feel constant, insatiable hunger. The Orcs move forward for no other purpose than to sate their endless hunger and gain more power. That is their king’s only wish.”
(Y/N) hummed in thought at the news, ‘So I was half right about them starving. They are hungry, but only because their king is forcing them to suffer like so. How troublesome, that they have the power to consume their enemies' powers.’ (Y/N) drank her tea once more and when she set it down she sighed, “We should get prepared. This village consists of the Tempest Wolves, Kijin, and Hobgoblins. It would not bode well if even one of us is eaten.” Benimaru then smiled as he stared at (Y/N), “Aren’t you forgetting the one meal that would attract them the most? We have the strongest creature here, remember?”
