"iris garcia, why are you always making us late?" elodie said obviously annoyed with her best friend, who stared her down as she dragged her trunk across platform 9 & 3/4.

they're starting their first year at hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry as fifth years. iris garcia, being muggle born and elodie adams, being a pureblood witch.
"maybe if you helped me with my trunk then we could've already been on the train by now" iris simply stated back to her best friend.
elodie glaring her down, bent down and helped iris put her trunk into the storage unit. as the girls did so, iris felt her braclet slip off her wrist and before she had the chance to even think about picking it up elodie was pulling her onto the train.

as iris was completely unaware, a tall, pale, blonde boy was watching her, taking in her features. her almost brown hair fell into a straight short length over her shoulders as she tucked bits of her hair behind her ears, tall but not as tall as him, pale skin with a constant rosy blush to her cheeks, he couldn't quite get a look at her eyes. as he continued his distant watching, he noticed a bracelet fall off her wrist as she was pulled onto the train by another girl.
he walked his way over, swiftly picking up the bracelet and following her onto the train.

"see elodie, we made it nothing to be stressed about" iris somehow mocks her best friend's stressing as they sit in an empty train compartment.
elodie rolled her eyes as she looked out the window at the passing train station.

the tall, pale, blonde boy had followed her and sat a couple of compartments away on the other side of the train. he couldn't help but watch the mystery, new girl.

elodie opened her mouth to say something but was interrupted by a tap on their compartment door. looking up, iris meet the green yet silver eyes of a tall, blonde, pale boy. she couldn't help but mental note his features, the defined jaw and cheeks, the gorgeous eyes and so forth. she mentally admitted that he was attractive, well at least she thought.

"wow, he's gorgeous." as quickly as the words fell out of iris' mouth, the redness came to her cheeks. she immediately slapped a hand over her mouth as if she could take it back.

"haven't even introduced myself and you're already throwing yourself at me?" the boy smirked.
"malfoy, draco malfoy" he extended the hand that he was leaning against the compartment door with. iris gladly took his hand and probably for a while too long.
"garcia, iris garcia" she copied his introduction.
"who's this?" draco nodded his head towards elodie, who looked dearly unimpressed.
"i'm elodie adams" she spoke strongly.
"the adams family, a line of purebloods." he stated.
"are you two new? you look quite old to be first years." draco's eyes couldn't come off of the dark green eyed girl who sat in front of him.
iris proudly stated, "not first years, new fifth years."
draco nodded and with the hand that was in his pocket, pulled out iris' lost bracelet.
"you dropped this" draco simply stated while bringing the bracelet to her wrist, back in its rightful place.
all iris could manage was a simple thanks, stunned over this interaction and the boy that stood over her.
"see you at the feast, goodluck getting sorted." draco winked as he pushed himself off the compartment door and walked away.

"elodie, thats it, i want him." iris staring straight at elodie.

"malfoy's are a pureblood line and a bad name. i hate to say but you're a muggle born, he won't want anything to do with you. plus his in slytherin house, whole family of them and you do not give off slytherin vibes, he will not swing for anyone who isn't a slytherin either."
elodie turned her eyes back to the book that she was reading leaving iris playing that interaction on a loop in her mind.

elodie and iris were ushered into the great hall by an older looking witch, well professor, in front of an extending line of first years.
the professor stopped them in front of small stairs, on the platform sat an odd and old looking hat on a stool. iris gave elodie an interesting look even though elodie knew exactly what is was.
"sorting hat" elodie whispered.
iris nodding her head.

the headmaster made some boring speech iris couldn't concentrate on, instead her eyes scanned over the great hall taking everything in but they just so happen to land on a certain slytherin boy, draco malfoy. he shoots her a smirk as she quickly turns her head to hide the fast appearing redness on her cheeks.

the headmaster stated there were two new students joining them this year, he called our names. "elodie adams" she gracefully sat on the stool as the sorting hat was placed on her head.
"i think this is the best option for you... GRYFFINDOR" the houses, except slytherin, erupt as she makes her way to a spare seat on the table, quickly befriending a red head boy, a boy with glasses and a smart looking girl.

iris shakily made her way to the stool where the older looking witch, well professor, placed the hat on her head.
"oh, this is going to be a tough one. mm lets see... HUFFLEPUFF" the sorting hat yelled as the tables, all houses again except for slytherin erupted in cheers.
as she made her way over to the house's table, iris caught herself locking eyes with draco malfoy who had a massive smirk plastered on his face. she also gave a reassuring nod to elodie, knowing she'd be stressed they weren't placed together.

iris sat down, greeted with warm handshakes and smiles from all around her. she felt happy and a huge sense of belonging.
the boy to her left outstretched his hand.

"i'm diggory, cedric diggory"

whats with everyone and introducing with their last names first?
she thought as she took his hand and repeated
"garcia, iris garcia."
