the lost boy, a draco malfoy love story

chapter six

as fast as september left, december came bringing in heavy snow and bitterly cold winds. the past three months have been nothing short of eventful at hogwarts, elodie and cedric are still together and iris has reason to believe they'll be together forever, even if forever is a long time. iris and elodie have grown closer with none other then the 'golden trio' and a couple other gryffindors like neville longbottom and ginny weasley. iris felt at home and at peace not only within her house of hufflepuff but within hogwarts itself, her and elodie have had the best three months of their lives and plan to make the next two years here the best years.

draco and iris are yet to make anything between the two of them official but draco is on his road to show iris that the better she deserves is in fact him. draco makes more of an effort to see her, walk with her, talk to her and hold her when in the view of others, it makes iris' heart warm. draco and iris can both agree they do prefer being alone together, they find it's more private that way and it means no one can get into their business as a few jealous slytherins have been trying to do. blaze has stayed away from iris in fear of draco but draco will always have a worry over iris, he will never not have the urge to protect her, keep her safe and out of harms way. iris adores the protective draco, she feels safe always when he is in her presence, next to her or across the room, iris' favourite feeling is safety and she is more than happy that draco provides her with it.

being the holiday season, hogwarts' staff decided to throw together a christmas ball for the students, the excitement of the ball could be felt through every corridor and room in hogwarts, it is all the students talked about. hogsmede trips were also a regular weekend activity for the students, everyone enjoyed being able to rome the hogsmede village with their friends enjoying the cold yet beautiful snow that fell over the many stores. elodie and iris never pasted on a hogsmede trip, neither did cedric or draco they were always tagging along and too both iris and elodie's surprise the two boys got along. the next hogsmede trip is the most special for elodie and iris and most likely the enterity of the female students as it was dedicated to the christmas ball preparation.

it was just after dinner on a cold tuesday night, elodie was with cedric and deciding she didn't want to be a third wheel and draco wasn't in sight, iris headed up to the owlery to reply to her parent's letter from this morning.

happy decemeber, i hope it isn't too cold at home! sorry for not writing as much as i promised, everything has been so flat out busy here. i'm doing well in each of my classes besides one, potions but that's okay, elodie and i have that class together so she's a great help. i feel so welcomed and happy here at hogwarts, i feel like i have finally found where i belong and i'm with the people that are the same as me.

i have a little surprise, there is a boy i have taken a liking to, his name is draco malfoy, one of the sweetest people i have ever met.

here at school, next saturday night we have a christmas ball, it seems like it's going to be so much fun. elodie and i are heading into the hogsmede village this weekend to get our dresses and anything else we might need for the ball. i'm so excited i can't wait! also on the topic of christmas, am i coming home for the two week break? i don't know your plans but if you are going to be visiting like the previous years, i am able to stay here over the break. let me know!

also if it's no hassle, i left my winter jacket at home not thinking, would you be able to send it with your reply, thank you thank you thank you!

happy with her letter she folded it into an evenolope, addressing it to her parents and attached it to her owl, telling her who to send it too. iris sat on the ledge as she watched her owl fly into the distance, a cold breeze blew through the tower, iris wrapped herself tightly in her robes trying to stay warm. being up here away from the madness, reminded her of being in the astronomy tower with draco, they didn't visit regularly but it felt like their own secret spot they could getaway too. iris' thoughts took her into the future, she always hated thinking about the future, she preferred to live for the now but she thought into the future. life after hogwarts, life with draco, did they have a future? too heavy in her thoughts staring out over the valley below, iris didn't notice draco had entered the owlery.

her thoughts were gently interrupted by draco sitting beside her, wrapping an arm around her shoulders and pulling her into his lap and to his chest. she smiled into draco's chest as she wrapped her arms around his torso, "hi draco" she whispered. "hey iris" he whispered back.

draco took this time to focus everything on iris, this girl he held in his lap was nothing short of special. the christmas ball was just around the corner, it was definitely not draco's scene but he couldn't help but overhear iris and elodie chatting excitedly non stop about it so draco put his ego aside as he has been doing for this girl and decided that he'll ask her to the dance.

draco gently rubbed iris' back as she sat in his lap with her head against his chest, iris loved this, she was listening to draco's gentle heart beat. "hey iris, i have something to ask." iris slowly lifted her head so she was looking at draco, draco was already looking down at her. he took his hands from his back and held her face in his hands. "it'll be my pleasure if you'd accompany me to the christmas ball next saturday." draco said while gently running a thumb over her cheek.

iris' smile instantily grew which caused the dimples draco loved to appear on her face.

"i'd love too draco" she went to move her face back to draco's chest but draco quickly stopped her, "hey, i'm not done staring at your face yet." instantly iris' cheeks flushed red and she managed to hide her face back in draco's chest. draco let out a small laugh as he wrapped his arms back around iris, pulling her close. "you're so bloody cute garcia."

the pair sat like that for the next two hours before deciding it was getting too cold. iris reluctanly climbed off draco and he stood up. draco held out a hand for to take, suddenly feeling a rush of confidence, iris took draco's hand but pulled him into her, she lightly stumbled back into the pole under the sudden weight of draco.

draco smirked, "so is this what we're doing now?" he placed a hand on the side of her neck resting a thumb on her jawline.

iris lent in and kissed draco, he happily returned the kiss. with one hand on her neck and the other on her hip draco deepened the kiss, wanting more. they kissed with more passion then before, it was like they couldn't get enough of each other, as they parted iris mumbled against draco's lips "yes it is" in response to his questioned earlier. draco smirked and kissed her again.
