draco met iris' dark green eyes from across the great hall, oh how he could get lost in them forever. this side she brought out in draco was scary and new territory for him, nothing he has ever felt before. he'd be called weak by the fellow slytherins for having feelings and these feelings are for a muggle born witch, someone he has been taught to despise from his pureblood line. he often wondered what his friends, hell what his family would say if they were to find out he liked a muggle born witch, labelled to frequently for draco's liking as a mudblood.
"hey malfoy" zabini sat down next to draco, "feel like messing with some mudbloods today?" blaze sent draco a smirk as draco sat there wondering when he was going to grow up and stop being so blood proud, blood doesn't mean anything.
"oh zabini can you just shut it for once" draco shouted catching the attention of surrounding students. draco got up from his seat and left the great hall, needing to get out before he did something stupid.

iris watched as draco got up and walked out of the hall with annoyance written all over his face after what seemed like an argument with blaze. iris didn't understand why her brain and heart was becoming so utterly consumed by someone who was trying their hardest to make her life miserable, failing hard though. it was the small things that made iris so interested in draco, he apologises and is completely different by himself but surrounded by his fellow peers he was a changed person and she wanted to know why. its like he had something to prove or maybe he was just arrogant and blood proud, iris of course choose to not believe that and to instead believe in the good.

iris got up from the hufflepuff table in such a rush she almost tripped over herself. she walked out of the hall hoping to "accidentally" catch up with draco, she wanted to know him, iris knew there was more to draco then the cold front he puts up plus she was concerned over why he snapped at blaze.
iris walked through the corridors of the school in search for draco, trying to be as subtle as she could. she found draco leaning up against a wall as she turned down a corridor. smothering the smile on her face, she slowly started to walk the length of the corridor. iris started to regret having so much confidence when it comes to this boy, they were alone but she didn't know what draco malfoy she'd be faced with.
"draco?" iris called just above a whisper as she neared closer to the boy.

draco usually hated when his first name was used but he loved when this certain dark green eyed hufflepuff girl used it. he was in a slight state of shock to see the girl who had easily took over his world in front of him, he did manage to cover his shocked face with a genuine smile because of who was in his presence once more.

"for once we aren't running into each other garcia" draco chuckled lightly to himself while studying the girl in front of him, she looked beautiful, like she always did. she had the front sections of her hair loosely tucked behind her ears, keeping it from her face, iris was always tucking away any stray pieces, her dark green eyes sparkled under the dim light the hallway they stood in and the way she played with her bracelet on her wrist, the same one draco had returned to her on her first day.

"draco, are you okay?" the concern was clearly seen across iris' face, she placed a hand on draco's shoulder. she studied his expression and facial features, the annoyance that was clearly planted on his face during dinner had gone instead replacing with a calm, more relaxed draco expression. "what happened with blaze at dinner?" iris focused her eyes straight into his grey yet green eyes.

"nothing you need to worry about, i have blaze and the others sorted. if they even think about causing you trouble, lets just say they'll regret it." draco said, reaching up and putting a piece of hair that fell loose behind iris' ear again.

iris had to bite back, "oh wait, so you won't be joining in this time?" stepping back from draco.

draco's expression changed quickly into guilt, sadness even. "iris you know i never want to hurt you, hell i want to protect you from them, from me but -"

"your bloodline is too important" iris quickly interuppted going to turn away, wondering why she ever came after him. before iris could get far, he grabbed her hand in that spot between your thumb and index finger that seems to melt any worries away.

"how can you say that iris? my bloodline means nothing compared to you. i just want to protect you, to save you from the mess that comes with me." draco shook his head, taking her hand in his, "you've made me feel in a way i haven't before, having real feelings is all new territory for me."

iris completely taken aback by his response managed to simply say, "you make me feel a certain way too, malfoy." draco raised his glance from their hands to her eyes, pulling her in for a warm and safe hug. he took in iris' scent feeling relieved he was finally able to come clean about his feelings, the one thing that worried draco was what the likes of zabini, crabbe and goyle will say to get iris' skin, driving her away. this dark green eyed, hufflepuff girl has managed to make draco's stomach create butterflies in the matter of two weeks, she has managed to drag draco into uncharted waters, he couldn't get enough of this girl, iris garcia.

"let me take you somewhere" and before iris could answer draco was already leading her somewhere. the pair walked through the corridors and stairs of hogwarts before draco lead her up a spiral staircase to the well known astronomy tower. iris took in the view as she walked to the edge, sitting down letting her legs hang over the side, iris could feel draco sit beside her, he took her hand, intertwining their fingers and holding them in his lap. draco watched iris closely as her eyes gazed over the view in front of them,

"hey draco, why do you hide this side of yourself from the world?" she turned to face him, "you aren't a cold and arrogrant person that everyone seems to think you are." draco told her that its what he has grown up around, he knew no different then to make the pureblood malfoy name proud and follow in his father's footsteps, the pair continued on venturing into the deepest conversations about anything in the world while the watched the stars in the dark night sky. while iris spoke about something, draco completely zoned out while focusing on this girl that was sitting right beside him, he took in the way she spoke so proudly of her childhood, growing up in the world of muggles and everything she got to experience, he took in the way the dim light of the stars and distance buildings made her dark green eyes appear almost black, as iris smiled about something draco took in those dimples that accompanied her smile, how he would love to wake up to the smile every morning for the rest of his time.
