hogwarts was buzzing with excitement at breakfast this morning;  it happened to be the day of the christmas ball, everyone including the staff where excited for the event tonight that lay ahead of them.

as iris found a seat next to cedric at breakfast, cedric seemed overcome with nerves.

"whats up with you diggory?" iris questioned while eating what was in front of her.

"the christmas ball is tonight in case you forgot! elodie makes me nervous all the time but this is something else, what if i screw up a dance or something? and not to mentioned she is going to look so amazing, which will leave me speechless. i can see everything going wrong, what if she ends up hating me?" cedric rambled on about the most stupid things.

"diggory, relax would you, stop getting yourself so worked up. you can dance, i see you spinning elodie around when you think no one is watching in the corridors and there is no chance elodie could ever hate you, she's in love with you." iris shook her head and chuckled at cedric's moment.

"you know what iris, you're right." cedric settled at started to eat.

"i know, when am i wrong?"

iris finished her breakfast just as mail arrived, she spotted her owl and with the owl was a letter and a package, a smiled spread across iris' face.

tearing open the package to find her winter jacket she asked her parents to send her, she then opened the letter.

hey sweetie,

we are so glad to hear from you, we understand that everything is busy so don't feel bad for hardly writing, as long as we know you're safe that is all we want but please write more often, we miss you!

we knew you'd feel at home at hogwarts, we couldn't be more proud of you for finding your peace. this boy, draco, we'll have to meet him and give him a once over ourselves, only the best for our little girl. i would invite you both back home for the christmas holidays but we're visiting friends in ireland who you have had no contact with and we don't want to drag you along when you could be enjoying your time somewhere you want to be!

we love you so incredibly much iris,

see you in summer.

mum & dad.

iris couldn't help the sad expression that fell on her face, she knew she wouldn't be going home for the holidays but the disappointment was still there, she missed her parents and was going to be staying at hogwarts, alone on christmas, great. elodie was heading home to her family with cedric. ron, harry and hermonie were all staying at the weasley's and draco was also going home. iris racked her brain for ideas of what she could do over the two week break.

"hey garica" draco called making his way to her, iris completely taken away in her thoughts didn't even hear him. draco noticed the dull expression on her face as he took a seat beside her. "iris, what's up?" draco looked questioning iris, hoping that the look wasn't because of something serious. "oh, hey draco. it's nothing, i'm just not going home for christmas, the thought of spending it here alone, it's kinda rough." she glanced to draco with a small smile. "oh garcia, that can be easily fixed, you're coming home with me for christmas, my parents want to meet you anyway. plus, i wouldn't be able to sleep knowing you're here without me." draco placed a reassuring hand on iris back.

"wait, your parents want to meet me? why?" she questioned

"i might've told them about you and how happy i am."

"are they really going to let a muggle born witch into their house?"

"iris, they won't care and if they give you trouble the house is massive and we can easily avoid them and i'll sort them out"
