I'm crying in bed at midnight.
I need to get better by tomorrow, I have to go to school, I'm going to miss everything and I'm not going to get good grades and-
My phone buzzes in my hands.
It's Josh.
Josh: Are you asleep yet?
I think before replying.
Me: Yes.
Josh: XD Are you feeling any better.
Me: I want to say yes so badly, but no.
Josh: LOL You better get some sleep, it will help you get better.
Me: You better get some sleep, it's Monday tomorrow.
Josh: I will when you're asleep.
I pause and stare at the ceiling. What did that mean?
Me: WDYM
Josh: We can do a video call, so I can make sure you sleep.
Me: Are you sure it's not to check if I snore?
My phone gets an incoming video call from Josh.
I hesitate before answering it.
"Hi." I squeak.
He looks really cute in dark blue pyjamas. His hair is messy and he has a lazy smile on his face.
I look at myself in the corner of the screen. I look ridiculous In my pink pyjamas. My hair is tied up in a very loose bun. My face is streaked with tears.
I quickly wipe away the majority of them with my sleeve.
"You look cute." He whispers as if he was afraid someone would hear.
I blush and cover myself more with my duvet.
"Don't cover yourself like that, you'll be even hotter." He winks.
"Stop saying things like that! You're the one making me hot." My face is getting really hot, not only because of the fever, also from his compliments.
"Sleep."
I close my eyes for a while but open them a bit to take a peek at his sleeping self.
I prop my head on my right hand, staring at a perfect image.
I could do this all day, I realise.
"Stop staring at me dreamily." His voice whispers.
I jump a bit at the sudden voice.
"Go to sleep." He mutters before closing his eyes again.
֍
I wake up at 9 in the morning to find that my phone is dead.
I groan and stand up on the carpet.
I suddenly feel really dizzy and fall back onto the bed.
I try again but it's no use.
I try crawling but collapse onto the floor.
There's a knock a my door.
"Come in." I call sulkily.
Mum steps in with a glass of water and a thermometer.
She puts the glass down and runs towards me.
"What are you doing, lying on the floor? You're not going to get better if you sleep on the floor." She cries and helps me up.
I sit on my bed.
