Noelle

"We've had plenty of people come by here and try to bail him out. Can I get a relation?" The snarky woman at the front desk explains. I've been trying to get the papers I need to sign to get Colby out.

"I'm his girlfriend," I answer, running my hands down my face.

"Like we haven't heard that before," she mumbles as she types into the computer. It's taking everything in me not to reach over the counter and hit her.

"I just want to get him out, is that too much to ask?" I sigh. She rolls her eyes. Repeating her action, I turn and go outside to Sam and Kat.

"How'd it go?" Kat asks quietly.

"She's being an asshole," I sigh, leaning against the wall.

"It'll be okay," she assures. "Sam's on the phone with the bondsman."

As if in on queue, Sam walks out from around the corner. "The money transferred. All we need to do is sign the papers."

A million emotions fill my heart. We go back inside and the woman looks at me. Her jet black hair is tied into a tight bun. She has a large nose with a mole at the end.

"Can I please have the papers?" I request. She sighs before digging through a drawer. She slides a small stack of papers over to me. "Thank you."

"How much is it?" Sam asks as we sit down.

"Not too much, hopefully," I sigh, running my hands through my hair. He hands me a pen and I begin signing the papers. It takes me about ten minutes to finish. When I do, I'm exhausted.

"That it?" Sam checks. Nodding, he takes the papers and hands them to the woman. They whisper back and forth before he comes back over to Kat and me. My head is on the cold table. "They said it'll be another thirty minutes."

"As long as he gets out today," I whisper. Kat rubs my back assuringly.

"He will." It's quiet for a while. We all scroll through our phones, trying to pass time. People are posting all kinds of photos of Colby with the hashtag 'freecolby' under them. It makes me smile. A door clicks behind me, getting my attention. An officer walks out, then Colby. His hair is messy and he has a light stubble on his jaw. The officer takes his cuffs off and I rush over to him. He wraps his arms around me, I wrap mine around his neck.

"I was so scared," I whisper. He hides his head in my neck.

"I'm so sorry," he whispers.

"It's not your fault," I tell him. My fingers tangle in his hair. "I'm just glad you're here."

"I love you so fucking much," he mumbles.

"I love you so much more."

"Not possible," he challenges.

The flight is quiet. He let me have the inside seat. He raises the armrest and gestures me over to him. He plays with my hair as I rest my head on his arm. My hand takes his free one.

"We're going to have to put the Peter trial off," he whispers.

"How come?" I mumble.

"Sam and I have legal stuff to deal with and I don't think we can mentally handle all of this at once."

"That's okay," I nod. "I'm sure he'll be relieved to hear that."

"I'll be relieved when he's in jail."

"You and me both," I laugh lightly. For the rest of the flight, we rest. His hand never lets go of mine. I sit back up when the plane lands. He takes my hand again as we exit the plane. He spins me so his arm is around my shoulder. We go to baggage claim to get our bags before leaving the airport. Sam and Kat take a separate Uber.
