Bongi made her way into the hotel she was going to stay in for the few days she was visiting. She greeted the doorman and walked over to reception where she checked in then she was soon off to her executive room at the highest level of the fancy hotel. She'd chosen to stay at a hotel not wanting to stay at her parents' home, she didn't even want her family knowing she was in the country.

After graduating, Bongi had gone on a quest to find herself. She'd first visited her father whom unbeknownst to her, had been banned from her life. Soon after, she'd traveled the world before settling in Thailand.

She'd been at odds with her family since she'd migrated because well, they hid her father from her all her life. She knew she'd have to deal with that at some point, but the visit wasn't about that. It was about something more important. She was going to bury yet another one of her friends.

She'd gone straight to bed for a few hours as soon as she'd made it to the room to rid herself off the jet leg. When she woke up she'd texted on the group chat to let the friends know that she'd landed so they could all meet up like they'd planned.

Mariska had insisted to pick her up at the hotel later that day so she didn't have to Uber to the beach where they'd all planned to meet.

Bongi hadn't seen the group in years and even though her visiting had been as a result of a tragedy, she couldn't wait to see them. The last time she was in the country they'd all been strangers. When Connor died she couldn't make it to the funeral because of the lockdown. She, just like the rest of the group felt partly responsible for the boy's suicide.

If they'd decided to put their pride to the side, the boy would still be alive. Sadly the same couldn't be said for Dineo. The only thing that kept the girl alive for almost a year had been a machine. She'd shown no signs of recovery throughout the months and as much as they'd hated to admit it, she was gone.

The friend they'd all grew up with and loved had transcended and all that was left was her meat body.

But the group had planned to celebrate her life as opposed to mourning about her death. So that evening they were going to have a bonfire, light some lanterns and talk about her life that was sadly taken at such a young age. The following morning they were going to be at the hospital where the machine was going to be turned off.

Mariska called Bongi to let her known she'd arrived at the hotel when she got there, Bongi then made sure to leave as soon as she could after that as she knew the girl was not a fan of waiting.

"Bongz!" the tall girl had greeted cheerfully as soon as she saw her coming out of the building. They'd embraced each other in a hug for what felt like forever, not wanting to let go. It had been too long but also, they were going to bury yet another one of their friends and it hurt.

"I can't believe it. Poor Dineo," Bongi said as tears started dripping down her cheeks. It was getting more real now that she'd met up with someone who was as close to the girl as she was. They'd told Bongi about how she was domestically abused for a while and that was what ultimately landed her where she was.

"I haven't been able to sleep, I can't imagine what she went through." Mariska had replied also letting her tears fall freely. She'd been advocating against domestic violence since the news broke down and she'd even created a hashtag that had thousands of people across the globe seeking justice for the girl.

Sadly the girl wasn't the first victim and probably not the last either. People were mad.

She was someone's daughter whose future was just taken away from her by a man who claimed to love her but still put his hands on her.

They still hadn't arrested the boy but he'd ended up in hospital because someone was really angry, more so that the system wasn't doing anything about it. So the boy had taken it upon himself to do something.

Hundreds of lit lantern lights filled the air as people gathered to say their goodbyes to yet another innocent soul whose life was taken at the hands of a man.

The friends hadn't expected anyone else to join but they were surprised to see a whole bunch of people by the beach where they'd planned to meet up with lanterns in hand.

Mariska had announced on her social media what they'd planned to do and well, people wanted to show their support.

Nathan sat in his car as he looked up at the beauty that filled the air that evening, the lanterns had scattered all around creating a beautiful scenery that resembled that of his soon to be late friend and the person who had his heart without knowledge.

The boy still hadn't been able to grasp with reality and he was still shook at his heart's revelation.

He'd always loved the girl but with a different kind of love. She was like his sister and he had no clue when that turned into something more. Maybe it was loosing her that made him realize how much he actually loved her. He'd always had her in his life and so he never really knew the feeling of her not being there.

And now that she wasn't, he starved for her presence. Her beautiful face and angelic heart.

The following morning had Dineo's friends and family gathered at the hospital for the girl's final moments.

Even though she couldn't hear anything, they'd all took turns saying their last words to her.
They'd all cried, laughed and embraced each other.

They said their goodbyes.

At exactly twelve pm that afternoon. They'd switched off the machine that was holding her life.
