When Bruno Ferreira was thirteen years old, his family relocated to Houston, Texas. It had been the worst day of his childhood life and he'd hated his parents for months for it. He had a girlfriend that he loved more than anything and he had friends who meant the world to him. He was as happy as could be.

But his family clearly didn't care because they hadn't even bothered to ask how he'd felt about it. They'd given him a week to say goodbye to his friends to his utter shock. As if leaving hadn't been bad news enough.

How could they just give him a week to say goodbye to the people he'd known almost all his life? Knowing he wasn't ever going to see them again. He'd been beyond livid.

So the boy ended up not saying goodbye because he didn't know how to. He'd hoped his friends would forgive him one day for just leaving without a word as he'd been too heartbroken to say goodbye.

Ten years later, he moved back to his birth country. His family was still in the states but he'd always dreamt of the day he'd be old enough to move back to South Africa on his own and when the opportunity presented itself, he didn't waste any time.

The company he'd been working for in the states had an office in South Africa and they'd been more than happy to have him transferred as he'd been great at his job. The move of course came with a big promotion and he couldn't be happier.

When he'd made it back to Cape Town, he'd spent months looking for his old friends. He'd thought it was going to be easy as finding a group of people was better than finding one person but he'd been mistaken.

He'd also never in his life imagined the bond that the group had being broken. He'd traveled the world and still hadn't met a group of friends that stable and close knitted.

That's why he'd been beyond shocked when he found out what had transpired with his old friends. But that had only been after he saw an RIP post of a person who looked extremely familiar. He'd seen it on a person he worked with's timeline. It didn't take him long to realize it had been Connor, his childhood best friend.

Words could not explain the hurt that came with seeing that.

He'd then gone to the funeral where he met up with the rest of his old friends. Some could hardly recognize him as they hadn't seen him in years but he was just relieved to know they weren't angry with him for not saying goodbye back then.

But while at it, he hadn't at all planned to find himself awestruck by a blonde beauty that was now friends with his old friends. He'd sworn off relationships since he'd had his heart broken by his ex girlfriend but the girl had him rethinking that. He'd never met anyone who had before.

So naturally, he wanted to get to know her more and he'd practically begged for her number until she'd ended up giving him just so he could stop annoying her.

He felt it was beyond childish that Preshani had a problem with them dating. They'd dated a million years ago, she needed to get over it.

And yes he'd loved the girl when they'd dated back in the day but if he had to be honest, he wasn't really INlove with her.
He was thirteen and barely even knew what love was.

The only reason he wasn't doing anything about the situation was because he wanted to respect Mariska's decision even though all he wanted was to be with her. He'd understood where she was coming from with what she'd been through with Tyrone but he just couldn't accept it. How could he?

Mariska was young and she made a drunken mistake, why were they still making her feel bad about it? If the group still held on to what she'd done years ago then were they her friends at all?
He could see the negative effect the whole thing had on her and he hated it.

She wasn't ok and all he wanted more than anything was to save her. He wanted so bad to hurt the people that were hurting her. Starting with Tyrone.

Just the boy's name made him sick in his stomach. His understanding was that he'd been the one who played two girls but for some reason all the blame was placed on Mariska while he was probably celebrated because that was sadly the society they lived in.

He wanted to hurt the boy so bad but he needed to remind himself that he left that life behind him. But every time he saw Tyrone he wanted nothing but to strangle him.

He wanted to end him.

Bruno had fallen into bad crowds and bad decisions when he was still in high school. He'd done some things he's definitely not proud of and that had partly been the reason he moved to South Africa. He needed to get away from what he'd done and the people he'd done them too.

Bottom line though was he was done with that life. But if he really needed to, he could easily go back to it just to fix the situation he was currently in. He'd do it quietly with no trace. He'd dealt with people like Tyrone before and let's just say they're not around to tell their side of the story.

Bruno felt the rage in his heart as he ran on the treadmill that morning. He then stopped the machine after over an hour on it to take a breather. Not because he was tired but because there was too much on his mind and his heart was on a rampage.

He took his phone out of his gym bag to text the girl who brings him sleepless nights but also calms his heart down. The girl always complained about him still texting her but made no effort to simply ignore him. He chuckled at that. He had no doubt in his mind that she liked him too.

He didn't care what anyone said or thought, they were going to be together. Even if it meant someone had to die for that to happen.

The girl replied not too long after and he felt his heart calm down at that. She somehow managed to always put a smile on his face even when all he wanted was to hurt someone. She didn't even have to do much, her existence alone was his calm.

They were going to be together soon enough.
