Several hours had passed, and the two demon slayer came back for Inosuke.
"Sorry for being gone for so long, Inosuke, but we're here now-" Nezuko stopped in her tracks when she opened Inosuke's door to reveal her brother being clingy with him.
"I tried to leave, but he won't go away." Inosuke looked tired and annoyed.
"Ah! I'm sorry! What's up with you today, brother?"
"Appreciate it; you might not get any affection from anyone else," Zenitsu smirked.
"ZENITSU!" Nezuko kicked him in the stomach.
"WHY ME!?"
"Stop being so rude!"
"Just take him please-" Inosuke begged.
"Oh, right."
The couple came upstairs to check on Inosuke's wounds, and they said he was ok to go, only if he didn't force himself to fight yet. The three demon slayers said their goodbyes and thanks, leaving the residence. It was a quarter past noon, and they knew they had to find a place to stay.
"I could do my place, but we're far away from it." Zenitsu offered.
"All of our places are in the same spot, dumbass, given to us by our leader."
"Well, look at you smarty pants, do you have any ideas?"
"Hmm..." Inosuke thought, "There is a mountain over there; we can spend the night there."
"A mountain with no shelter? Are you sure we can be safe there?" Nezuko worried.
"I'm sure."
They wandered around the mountain until Inosuke told them where they could stay. The duo questioned how he knew this place so well; he knew the mountain like the back of his hand. He told them they would be spending the night in a cave. When they entered, it was more decent than they thought. It was empty, but it had many lines and carving into the rock.
"How do you know this place so well, Inosuke?" Nezuko asked the boy.
"Intuation, I guess." He replied.
"It took us so long to get here. The sun is down. We gotta be alert for demons." Zenitsu announced.
"Right. Oh, hey there, Tanjiro." Nezuko greeted her brother, who escaped the box.
"Has he ever eaten a human?"
"No, and he'll never do it." She replied to the blonde.
They stayed silent for a while from the boredom, then Inosuke spoke.
"How was he like when he was human?"
Everyone stopped. Zenitsu was interested now as well, but Nezuko was washed with horrible memories from her family.
"Are you ok, Nezuko-chan?"
"Y-yeah, Zenitsu, it's nothing,"
"Hmm," Inosuke hummed, thinking maybe he shouldn't have asked.
"... He was a sweet guy. He always sold charcoal to a town close to the mountain we lived in. He forced himself to work all the time, even when he was sick. A very stubborn person, but caring and nice." Nezuko explained with a soft smile.
"Too bad he's a demon now, he sounds like a nice person." The yellow boy looked at Tanjiro with sad eyes.
"But I'll turn him back into a human, so there is no need to worry. That's the whole reason I'm here anyway."
