Chapter 3 - Girls

The rest of the practice was incredible. Well, to Clarke it was. Around halfway through she started hearing her friends goofing off behind her. Raven was watching too but even she started to get bored. Clarke tried to act nonchalant by joining in the conversation every once in a while. She didn't want anyone to think she was too interested in watching the players, even if she was.

The practice lasted an hour and a half and when Ms. Indra dismissed the team and the girls started walking towards the school, Jasper stands up and yells "Party!"

Everyone starts laughing as Maya pulls Jasper down, scolding him lightly. "Come on. Let's go meet O and Clarke's girlfriend by the front of the school." Raven says, smirking slightly at the last bit.

"She's not my girlfriend," Clarke says sternly.

"She will be soon," Bellamy mutters. Clarke punches him in the leg and gets up. Everyone follows suit and the group makes their way to meet the girls.

Octavia and Lexa exit the building both laughing. Octavia pokes Lexa in the back with her stick and Lexa jerks, hitting the stick away with her free hand. "You guys were great!" Raven beams.

"Thanks, Rae. Did you see Lexa's pass at the end? That was incredible," Octavia says glancing at the girl.

Lexa smiles. "You were great too." Octavia rolls her eyes and starts towards that parking lot. Clarke glances at Raven to see if she noticed the interactions between the two girls. Was Octavia flirting with Lexa? No, O was in a very committed relationship with Rae and she knows that Clarke likes Lexa. But still, Clarke was confused. Raven seems to have taken no notice so Clarke pushes the thought to the back of her brain. She's just overthinking it.

Murphy, Emori, Harper, and Monty take Murphy's car and Bellamy, Jasper and Maya take Bell's. Which leaves O's car for Clarke, Octavia, Raven, and Lexa. "I call shotgun!" Raven shouts, pulling the passenger door open.

"No fair," Clarke says teasingly. Secretly pleased that she gets to sit in the back seat with Lexa.

"We can switch," Raven mocks knowingly. Clarke rolls her eyes and climbs into the vehicle seating herself behind the girl. Lexa climbs in beside Clarke and Octavia starts the engine.

Clarke's heart thumps loudly in her throat. She has never been this close to Lexa before. Raven plugs the AUX cord into her phone and a song starts playing. Clarke immediately recognizes it as girls by girl in red. The blonde quickly turns to face the window.

Lexa doesn't know she's bi, does she? Clarke thinks. O hasn't told her yet. All of Clarke's friends know of course, but beyond that group of people, no one else should know.

Clarke's thoughts are interrupted by Octavia and Raven screaming the chorus at the top of their lungs. "They're so pretty it hurts I'm not talking about boys I'm talking about girls!" Clarke turns back and glances at the brunette next to her. To her surprise, Lexa was singing along.

"Come on Clarke you know the words!" Octavia shouts above the now blasting music. The blonde can feel her cheeks blush as she glares at her friend in the rear-view mirror. Lexa laughs and rolls down her window, cool air blowing rapidly into the car.

"Float me," Clarke mutters, the curse she and her friends made up, under her breath. The chorus begins again and reluctantly Clarke rolls down her window and before she knows it, she too is screaming the lyrics out onto the street. Well, Lexa must know now.
