Liverpool, September 4, 2016

"John!" A voice from behind the boy's locked door called. "John, for God's sake. Get up!" The voice called again.

"Mhhm..." He slurred, stirring and pulling the sheets over his head.

"John, get your fat arse up right no-"

"Victoria!"

John groaned at the voice of his mother, who was now arguing about his thirteen year old sister's language. He guessed there was no chance he'd be going back to sleep now, not with their bickering going on just outside of his door.

"Fine! You get him up then! I'm gettin' the early bus!" He finally sat up, yawning as he ran a hand through his messy, auburn hair.

"Victoria, you will wait at that goddamn door, you hear me? You're walkin' with John, and Julia's goin' with you." John climbed out of bed, walking over towards the source of the noise. "It's you're first day, and you all can find your way together."

"What? No-" The door clicked open, and John yawned again at the sight of his sister, in her full school uniform, and his mother, also dressed.

"John. Get up, now." His mother demanded, walking away without another word. For a few seconds, he just watched her leave, until a voice interrupted him.

"John! Fuckin' move it!" Victoria pushed him back in the room, slamming his door behind him, basically telling him to get ready.

The room he was in was almost bare, except the bed, wardrobe and desk with his laptop in the corner. But of course, he had plans of where he was going to put his poster, having spent the majority of the night mapping their whereabouts on his empty, grey walls.

John threw open his wardrobe, reaching for the dull uniform in the corner. John deemed it as ugly, the red tie and white blouse not corresponding at all with the grey pants and blazer, making him annoyed. At his last school, they had a uniform, but nobody followed it bar the blazer and tie. But here... He had no idea how it would go.

He was in a whole different part of Liverpool, after all. He had yet to learn how Allerton worked.

He shoved the outfit on, despite his utter hatred and disgust at how it looked, before sliding his shoes on too. He figured he didn't have enough time for a shower, especially not with his sisters waiting for him to hurry up, and so sprayed some aftershave instead.

Grabbing his bag, phone, headphones and keys, he headed for the door, stopping at the mirror once more before he go there. To say the outfit was absolutely vile, he thought he actually looked rather... Decent.

But something wasn't right...

He undid the button on his collar, loosening the red tie up a bit and smirking to himself.

"That's it..." John told himself, studying his reflection for a few more seconds. Maybe this year he'd get more luck in... That department.

"John!" Victoria complained once more.

"I'm comin'!"

-

John could see the school in his vision, the stone building with obnoxiously large pillars from head to toe sort of creeping him out. He had seen pictures of it online, but being this close just made everything seem real.

It only made him more excited for the seven months.

"Looks like somethin' out of a horror movie..." Victoria uttered, climbing off the bus, linking arms with the 11 year old Julia.

"Christ, you're right..." John replied, walking ahead of the two.

They joined the group of students heading inside the building, and seeing most of them with their friends really made him think back to his other friends back at Quarrybank. Pete, Josh, James... He missed them, he knew he would.

But his father got a new job, something which the man was lucky to find one of anyway, and so here he was. His sisters still in toe as they headed into the main reception.

-

"Names?" The receptionist with fiery red, curly hair asked, not even looking away from the computer.

"John, Julia, Victoria..." John spoke, not caring to look at her either. He averted his eyes from the desk, turning to look back at the stairs.

"Ah, of course. The Lennon's." John let Victoria talk to the woman instead, having already zoned out.

Many students passed, a lot glancing at him as they headed in the direction of their classes with friends, muttering to each other about something that probably wasn't important. John didn't care if they were talking about him, he never had cared about gossipers like that, they wasted his time.

And then his eyes fell upon a boy... Around his age, with dark hair, surrounded by two other people. The two were walking to each other, and the dark haired boy in the middle sort of just stared at his hands, a small smile, clearly faked, on his face as they all headed down the steps.

The boy then caught John staring at him, looking up, and before John could turn away, he raised an arm up to shyly... Wave?

He waved at John...

John waved back slightly, and soon enough, the boy and his friends had disappeared. Just like all the other students walking past him.

"John..." Julia nudged him, holding his timetable in her hands.

"Oh, thanks..." Victoria had gone already, which didn't surprise John. She was independent, and would find her way soon enough. He sighed, before smiling at, who he had to admit was, his favourite sister. "C'mon then, let's find your classes..."

He wondered if he may catch the eye of that... Mysterious brunette boy again, and if he'd get butterflies once more as he did so.

THATS RIGHT, I'm back :)

This story isn't going to be too long, it's just that my other fic (on ao3) takes a lot of planning, and I wanted something a bit more laid back to work on too.

However, this story won't be anything too sweet. So expect some angst, and check the tags for trigger warnings. <3

But I am going to be writing both at the same time, so sorry if updates on both are... Well, shit.

Okay, thanks for reading ;)

~Elizabeth.
