It was half an hour later when Paul had stopped sobbing on John's shoulder, having now just buried his head in John's chest. His face was stained with tears, and he could tell his voice was shaky. He felt bad for breaking down on John. Paul didn't mind missing a lesson himself, but John was missing it too, and it was because of him...
"I-I'm sorry..." The younger boy mumbled, and John just gently shushed him again.
"What for?" He asked, sweetly.
Paul thought back to what he'd told his father, and how he had lied about John... Why did he do that? He'd now gone and got John involved in all of this.
"I... Oh God... I've been so stupid..." He whined, pulling his head slowly away from John's tear covered blazer. Paul couldn't look at him, he just couldn't...
"Paul, what do you mean?" But the younger boy just shook his head. John sighed in response. "You don't have to tell me what's wrong, you know? I just... I just want you to know that I will listen..."
The younger boy stayed silent for a few more minutes, biting his lip as he looked at the graffiti on the wall of the stall. He had to tell John, right? After all, he was now a part of all of this...
But then he'd have to tell John about his father.
His heart sped up at that thought, he hadn't even told George or Ringo about his father!
"I..." Paul tried, but couldn't find the words. He felt a hand touch his arm reassuringly, but he jumped at the touch.
"Woah... Paul..." John now seemed concerned.
Fuck.
Should he tell him?
He had to.
No he didn't.
"I told my father that I'm dating you!" Paul blurted out, still not looking John in the eyes.
And then John didn't respond, and he had to look to see what was going on. John was staring at him, looking into his eyes without any emotion. He was breathing faster than before, and Paul could see his chest move with every breath.
"What?" His voice was monotone.
"My father he-" Paul cut himself off. "It was the night of the day that we got detention and when the school rang home he wanted answers... And he asked me if you was my boyfriend and I just panicked and- and I said yes."
"Oh." Was all John responded with.
"I'm sorry..." The younger responded, looking into John's eyes.
At first, John didn't respond, but after a few seconds Paul saw his facial expressions soften. He gave Paul a slight smile, before holding his arms out for another hug, being able to tell that Paul was panicking.
The the younger accepted the hug, jumping into John's arms.
"Don't be sorry..." He responded. "I'll happily play as your boyfriend, if you still need me to that is."
Paul was glad his head was hid away in John's chest, as at the thought of John being his boyfriend he felt a furious blush grow on his face. He knew why, he wasn't stupid. John was the first person he had been able to mention anything about his father too, and he felt safe doing so.
He had feelings for John.
"Yeah... I may need you to." Paul nodded.
"Mhm... When?" The younger pulled his face back.
"How about... Tomorrow night?"
"Sure."
They both smiled at that, just in time for the bell. It called throughout the hallways, and Paul was relieved. He just wanted to see Mike again, missing his was what had made him cry in the first place.
"John?" Paul asked, once they were both on their feet.
"Mhm?"
"I was going to take my brother to Sefton park tonight, and I was wondering if you could come...?"
"I- Yeah, yeah I can come... If you want me to that is." John smiled sweetly.
"Yeah, it would be fun." They both quietly chuckled." I only have enough for me and Mike to get a bus ticket, though."
"It's fine, I have my own ticket from the school bus." The older smiled.
"Alright then."
John opened the door of the stall, and the two boys walked out of it, heading outside of the school gates and towards Mike's primary school.
