Chapter 10
"We found the body lying here. The death was caused by excessive blood loss."
"The murderer is very clever. He never leaves any evidence as if; he had practised it thousand times."
Inspector was correct: the murderer had done his job so cleverly and neatly that it was impossible for anyone to gather a single evidence. Inspector tried his level best but all in vain.
"That's not easy. Not even a single evidence, I think he is a trained murderer. Who saw the murder?"
"No one, but Arjun was the first to see the body."
"Arjun come here."
"Sir, that's my mistake. I am responsible for his death."
"What are you saying Arjun? My son has been murdered."
"When I saw him he was alive but after a minute he became unconscious. I wasted five minutes trying to regain my conscious; if instead of wasting those five minutes I would had called the nurse your son would......"
"Arjun it is not your fault," interrupted the inspector "I know you did everything you should have done. I would have done the same thing. You are not responsible for anything. Now be brave and answer my questions."
"Okay sir." said Arjun mustering some courage.
"Tell me everything you saw here."
"Sir I was called by our in charge for some fees related issue. From there I went towards the canteen and brought myself a packet of chips."
"Normally how many people are there in the canteen attending the orders?"
"Normally there are three people."
"All were present"
"Yes"
"What did you do next?"
"I proceeded to my class but as I moved ahead I saw blood. I came here and saw your son lying there. He was trying to speak something but it was not audible enough. Soon he became unconscious and I tried hard helping regain his conscious but all my attempt went in vain."
"You said he was uttering something. Did you hear anything, any word?"
"No sir it was totally inaudible, I heard nothing."
"Anything else you want to share."
"Sir, did you noticed his hand. It seems to me, he was trying to tell me something he saw in that direction." said Arjun.
The inspector took a glance at his son and saw that his right hand's finger was pointed towards the west direction. He followed the path and soon was standing in front of debris of an ancient monument.
"What is this? Is this a part of your school."
"I don't think so. The school map doesn't mention any such place, but the school authorities told me about its history. The story goes that, this place witnessed a fight between two powerful, non-earthly powers. The result not known by anyone but due to that war the atmosphere of this place changed; not fit for human habitation. The people who settled here either died or were forced to leave the place. Government tried to erect a monument but the result is visible; the ashes remain. People say the place is cursed and thus finally, the government ordered that no construction work should be undertaken here." principle replied.
