Even with my eyelids shut tightly, the bright rays of the sun bothered me. And that's what woke me up.
It took me a moment to realize that there was no wake up call. I glanced at my watch. It's 8:30!! We're going to be late for...wait there's no training!
Excitement filled me as I remembered about the plan. I jumped out of bed and changed my sleeping clothes.
Lois and Steffi could be here any minute. I have to wake Joan.
"Joan...wake up now. We have to formulate the plan."
"No. It's not gonna happen," Joan said, eyes closed.
"Huh? Why? I thought you wanted to read the book?"
"No, I'm really really really not feeling well. My head feels like it's about to explode. Every thing hurts!"
"But what about the plan?" I'm so surprised with my sudden change of mood. Last night I was so hesitant and now I'm so sure about it.
"Just...go tell Steffi I'm sick."
"Okay...."
I ran out of the room and bumped someone in the process. It's Lois.
"Oh, hey, Lois," I greeted.
"Yeah, hi. Listen, Steffi is really sick. To the point that she doesn't want to formulate a plan." What a coincidence!
"Really? Same with Joan. She said she's not feeling well."
"We really have to call Matilda. They need medicine."
"Yeah. But what if she's asleep?"
"She's not. I just saw her in the kitchen."
"Let's go then."
*********
"Good morning, girls. Is there a problem?" Matilda asked. She saw us walking in the hallway and approached us.
"It's Joan and Steffi. They're really sick," I said.
Matilda looked surprised. "Oh? Mr. Butterman informed me that there was nothing wrong with the food."
"Maybe it's something else. Anyway, is there a nurse here?"
"Of course. Please bring them to that room," She pointed to an open room with two, white beds. "While I call for the nurse."
***********
"So what seems to be the problem?" The nurse asked. She introduced herself as Nurse Jelly. She was a middle-aged woman, maybe in her late twenties or early thirties. She was tall and slim, having long, brown, curly hair. She had a warm and kind smile.
"My head aches. Everything aches," Joan groaned.
"Ugh...me too." Both of them were lying on the white beds.
"Did both of you happen to vomit last night?"
"Um, yeah," Joan said. Really? I didn't know. I must've slept already.
"I vomited last night too."
"Ah! I know this! I've taken care of students with these symptoms," Nurse Jelly said.
"Really? What is it?" Matilda asked.
"It's Jolarois," She informed us. Jola what? "Stress and lack of sleep causes Jolarois."
"Wait. How long until they'll be okay again?" I asked.
"A week," She replied? A week!
"A week?!!"
The nurse shrugged. "At the most two weeks. But since this is just a mild case, a week might do already." The nurse gave them some medicine.

Matilda turned to Lois and me.
"The both of you may go back to your rooms."
We obeyed.
Once we were far away from Matilda, I asked Lois,"What now?"
"I don't know. It'll be boring now, without them."
Suddenly, a plan formed in my mind. I looked at Lois and her eyes sparkled with interest. She must've sensed my plan somehow.
"Are you thinking what I'm thinking?" She asked excitedly.
"Yes! I have a plan."
We arrived at my room and I explained it.
"We're going back. But this time, the plan is different. You, since you're good at acting, distract Matilda while I go to the room. Can you do that?"
"Of course. That's easy! I know exactly what to do," She grinned.
"Let's do it now?"
"Yeah."
**********
Lois went to Matilda and do whatever it was to distract her.
I should do this quickly now.
I went in and opened the lights. Now where's that book? It isn't on the cabinet anymore. So weird. I'm sure I left it there.
There, it's on the study table! Beside the book was the cookies and milk again. But this time, the numbers of cookies doubled.
My stomach grumbled. I haven't eaten breakfast yet! I shouldn't eat it though...what if it's poisoned?
The next thing I knew, my hand was grabbing a piece. What's wrong with me? I can't control my own hand! Now I'm sure this cookie is poisoned!
The cookie was put in my mouth and my teeth started chewing. Involuntarily! I have to admit, it tasted good, though.
My other hand grabbed the glass of milk and my mouth gulped everything down! Then my hand dropped the glass and it shattered on the floor.
After that, I had a weird feeling. It's....I don't know! It feels like floating and drowning at the same time!
My vision blurred...I felt dizzy.
The last thing I saw was the pig.
Then my vision turned pink.
I felt my whole body crash on the floor, with the pieces of the glass on my arms. I knew that blood poured out.
Then all my senses were gone. I was unconscious.
