Chapter 18

"So? What is it?" Joan asked impatiently.
"Wait. Be quiet," Lois said, looking outside, maybe to check if anyone was here. When she made sure that no one was watching, she locked the door.
"Okay....I'll explain it all... You see, a few days ago....

*Lois's flashback* *Three days ago*
"Matilda, may I please go to the restroom?" I asked her.
"Sure, Lois. Be back quickly."
I head out of the training room. I went to the restroom behind the stairs, since it was the nearest.

There was a room before the restroom, and It was very different compared to all other rooms in this mansion.
No, not because of its size. Because of the door. On the top part of the door was: "Get out of here!" Deeply carved on the wooden door.

Another reason why it got my attention was because the door was full of photos pasted to it. All in all, there were only four photos. And they were big photos. Whoever put it there was obviously trying to catch people's attention. The photos were aligned in a zigzag way.

But the creepiest thing is: the first photo is a photo of ME. In the picture, I was sleeping on my bed back at home.
I don't remember this. This was like, four years ago. Even in the dark room, I could see my face clearly. The photographer only took a photo of my face.

The second photo is Steffi. It's her grade 6 graduation picture! She was smiling because she was valedictorian of her batch. How did this person get ahold of it?

The third photo is Joan. She was on the couch, watching TV and eating food. The photographer captured her face only sideways.

The fourth one is Cath. And it was the creepiest and weirdest photo among the four. She was lying down on her bed, eyes closed. Earphones were plugged into her ears. Behind her was Grazilda. Just standing there. Her face was expressionless. No anger, jealousy, hatred, nothing. But she frowned a little bit. Grazilda, wearing a black, long, shiny gown, was watching Cath listen to music. And she had not harmed her.
Well, Cath never mentioned being harmed by Grazilda, anyway. Maybe Grazilda didn't bother her because she was planning something even bigger for the next time.

Before I could turn the doorknob to go in, a cold hand touched my shoulder.
"What are you doing here?" A voice said with an angry tone. It belonged to Matilda, and I barely recognized her voice.
"Don't you know this area is restricted?"
"I-I'm sorry. I was going to the bathroom and..." I stopped when her face softened.
"Yes, I know. I'm Sorry if I frightened you, But you really aren't allowed to be here. This is Grazilda's room, and she would be furious that people are barging in her room."

She didn't mention about the pictures, and I don't think it's a good idea to ask her.
"Are you done using the restroom?"
"Yes," I lied.
"Good, let's go back to the training room now. Don't do this again."
"Yes, I'm sorry."

*flashback ends*

Lois's P.O.V.
Cath and the others were speechless. It took them a little while before they could answer.
"Wow" was all that they could say.
"I know right? We should totally go back there and check it out," I said.
"Are you crazy? What part of "do not do this again" do you NOT understand?!" Joan almost shouted.
"Shh..you'll disturb Matilda!" Cath said.
"Whatever. That's not the point. I mean, aren't you even a little bit curious about the photos on the door? Don't you want to know whats inside?" I tried to persuade them.
"No," Cath and Joan said in unison.
"I kinda agree with Lois, you know," Steffi said softly.
"So you're saying we should break in her room? What if there's like, a trap or something? We need to think this through before doing it." Cath argued.
"Does that mean your in?" I asked, excited.
"I didn't say that, what if we get in trouble?" Joan said.
"Don't worry. At my school, I used to go to the principal's office and mess his paper files. And I never get caught. The principal blames other kids. Right, Steffi?" She nodded.
"Yeah, you never got caught in YOUR school. But remember that we aren't on earth ANYMORE. This is some other place, okay?" Cath told me. She has a point.
"But still. I'm still doing it. Steffi, you in?"
"Of course. I miss the fun times when we were in school."
"Come on, join us," I pleaded to them.
They whispered to each other, then said,"Fine. If we get caught, we blame you."
"Yes, you're joining! And I told you, we won't get caught, trust me." I reassured them all. Steffi was already convinced.
"Okay, fine."
"Great! Let's do it tonight," I said. "Now get out of our bedroom!! Just kidding, you wanna stay here and formulate a plan?"
"Yeah!"
