CHAPTER IV ; DUSK TILL DAWN

it was a minute before yoshino's death.

or at least he thought so.

"ack- you gotta be careful! i know your whole little adventure involves going out of the ordinary but you didn't have to involve me as well!" exclaimed the frightened yoshino, holding a crowbar.

why was he even holding a crowbar in the first place?

he leaned closer to get a better look at you, that is currently having a battle against the locked double doors. he bit back a frustrated groan.

oh yeah, right. you claimed him as a friend. and here he stood, holding out a crowbar to help a friend.

"all i'm trying to show you is that we're on our last years and you have to try it."

"why would i try breaking in here? i'm a moving up student, not a moving down."

you tried snorting at the corny joke but the furious battle between the lock pick and door lock reeled back your attention. while you did that, yoshino did some thinking.

he still can't believe it, i mean, having you as a friend.

it surprised him to actually garner enough attention to have you as his companion, or 'friend' as you say it. he was never the type to earn friends right after getting the honor of being a miserable target of ito, a known hypocrite that only yoshino knows.

but then there's you, going out of your way to help him, a miserable nobody, though you tried wiping that thought off his mind. he had to admit it, you were either an angel sent from heaven or some kind of demon waiting to devour his innocence and wreck his life, there was no in between.

you were just, you.

he noticed you getting a lot closer than usual, throwing off little hints of 'wanna be friends?' in every moment or so. it was no big deal at first but the minute you started hanging around his table, which nobody goes to, it turned out to be a very big deal.

your subtleness made you come off as another hypocrite to him like all the others did but that one bright wednesday begged to differ.

"er, i know i should've done something but hey, i was scared shitless too." you muttered while glancing to yoshino.

the whole school population seemed to awfully stir up a loud mess in every step he took. he has been walking at least a mile now from the wretched scene he was in and you were still trailing with him.

he paused. "quit following me. you're acting stupid right now," every word he spat was like fire to you.

too bad, you were in it for more.

"okay, i get it, but what you did was no different. who'd even hand their homework over? you could've just told him off!"

there was silence between you and him. he glowered way too obviously that you had to cringe internally.

"i'd say the same for you. 'you could've just told him off'." he mocked while shutting the door behind.
