CHAPTER VIII ; OVERFLOW
today's menu seems to be pasta a la creme to the tenth power because the incredulous amount of cream cheese almost looked like it's about to ooze out of your bowl.
"you can opt for the sports club and pair it with another one- do you play sports?" maki interjected with a bite on the apple she's holding.
the question hung on the air for a while as you thought about your atheletic experiences for the past few months.
spoiler, you had none except for that failed attempt in a certain club back in the miyagi prefecture. let's just say spiking with your eyes closed is not your forte.
"erm. . . not really." you tapped on the cafeteria table. "i run though."
"yeah, like running from your responsibilities." the vice president snickered but she, in return, got no response out of you. the contemplation between her saying it in a literal sense since you do run away from your responsibilities (and she probably got the news from others) or just a plain joke left you awkwardly laughing instead.
"the track-and-field club is most probably fit for you then unless you don't want to get associated with itadori."
who wouldn't want to get associated with him? he's a ball of energy waiting to bounce off outer space.
"i will, somehow. i'm just thinking of another club to pair it with." you looked around the area to spot certain groups of people.
the cafeteria was bustling, sarcastically saying. tokyo jujutsu high school's student body capacity is that of a teaspoon, heck, you don't even know why it's named jujustu when there's none throughout the years.
contradictory to its amount of students, they still manage to find so many members within a club. speaking of which, the drama club is currently inhabited by 8 members, but you can't find yourself being the 9th, and the reason? pretty petty and irrelevant, you'll find out why.
"if looks could kill, you would've murdered the entirety of the drama club." maki set her tray aside and directed her attention towards the said club. "i guess you have a passion for the arts?"
"sure, you can call it that but i don't think i'd get into the drama club."
"well, technically you'd have a hard time to since the school year's only months away before summer starts but why do you have that in mind anyway?"
maki had obviously seen the way your eyes suddenly diverted away from the drama club's table as she trailed her eyes down from the small path way leading to their table. the familiar flash of chocolate brown passed by and darted to the table.
"what's wrong?" maki's eyes still fixed on the table. her vice president insticts flaring, scrutinizing each member for any discrepancies.
"i think she hates me." you muttered as you picked on the bits of bell peppers that came with the pasta.
the 'she' you were referring to had a vague point if you'd ask maki but she didn't need an answer for that because as soon as she took a glance back, the same brunette had her eyes glowering over your figure.
the said brunette being nobara kugisaki.
