And so she lay on her floor,
Sobbing her heart out.
Because she's decided
your opinion no longer matters.
She will always love you,
But caring what you think is destroying her.
She can no longer take the pressure
Of her futile attempts to be perfect.
And she can say nothing.
Not to you.
Only to herself,
Because she is the only one who truly listens.
And broken hearts are hidden behind smiles,
Like a shark by the waves,
As the sun blinds those below
to the stars beyond.
And please,
Do not take it to heart,
For I know not how to mask
myself anymore,
For you have never seen through,
And I do not know if I want you to.
And she no longer wants you to know,
or to care
or to believe in her
or to ask.
For it will just bring more heart ache
and more tears.
And she is done caring what you think.
Once and for all.
This time there is no turning back.
She loves you,
but I no longer want you to speak.
