Lit Cigarettes

He stood with flushed cheeks and an already lit cigarrette between his lips. Like deja vu from earlier that same night Bloo had his hand reached out to you. You blinked a few times before taking his hand. He looked to the unlit cigarette clenched between your cold fingers, and you quickly caught on and placed it between your lips so he could light it for you.

You looked up at his face as it was illuminated by the lighters flame, and at that moment you couldn't help but notice how close the two of you were standing. "Thanks," you let out quietly, hugging yourself tightly after taking a step away.

"Are you stalking me or something?" you chuckled out, taking a puff of your cigarette. He smiled at you, and you diverted your eyes to the stars, hiding a small smile of your own.

"You caught me" he said, as he flicked his cig.

"Yeah?" you asked, glancing at him with a small smile.

"Yeah." he said, with an airy laugh.

"Here," he then continued, laying his jacket over your shoulders.

This made you turn your whole body towards him, "you really dont have to" you tried to argue, when in fact you wanted to keep it on.

"Nah, I'm good," he said with a smirk, chin raised a little high.

"In fact," he started, "I'm actually really hot," and then he started fanning himself. You couldn't help but laugh at the man in front of you. At that he stopped and stared at you with a faint smile. You coughed awkwardly, eyes shifting about.

"Actually, I saw what happened inside and..." he said, kind of trailing off. "Oh," you interrupted, not sure how to react.

"I- well um, I think you did the right thing," he finished, rubbing the back of his neck.

"Thanks, I think" you said, hands now stuffed in his jackets pockets, fidgeting with his belongings.

"They're both kind of dicks, right?" he continued dryly, not wanting to be surrounded by unpleasant silence. "Yep." You popped out, before putting your cigarette out on the ground.

"Didn't mean to make it awkward there" he said, sucking his teeth while shifiting back and forth on his heels and toes.

"It's whatever," you said, starring at the ground, "part of the job, i guess" you chuckled shortly, now looking at him while shrugging.

He gave you a sorry smile, and feeling the pity oozing of him you took a deep breath.

"You don't seem too happy with your job?" what he said came out as a question, and you raised an eyebrow at him. "What I mean to ask is, if you don't like your job why do it?" he then corrected himself.

You cleared your throat, "you're really nice bloo but, that's private.". He only nodded back, sulking his lips slightly. "Not everyone has the privilege of doing what they love," you slightly muttered to yourself. He looked over at you but remained quiet.

The silence now overtook you two, and you felt it engulfing you completely. Your mind was blank on what to say, and mostly you just wanted to head home but not seem rude.

"So..." you said, fidgeting slightly but was interrupted by Bloo's sudden proposal. "Do you wanna get ramen with me?" You had to register what he said for a moment and in the meantime he threw some more in, "at my place?"

You raised your eyebrows and couldn't help the scoff leaving your lips. "Wow..." you said and stepped a little more away from him. "So that's all you wanted? To take me home with you?" You let out slowly, as the puzzle clicked in your head.

"What? No." he tried to rebute, "I just live nearby." What a weak defense, you thought to yourself.

You took his jacket off and threw it towards him, "have this back, I'm going home." That's all you had to say before walking off.

As you grew closer to the taxis, you couldn't stop yourself from tearing up again out of frustration, you felt so stupid. All you was to him was a prostitute, another girl desperate to get into his pants and you fell for it for just a second.

You threw your hand to your forehead and rubbed at it lightly, "this night can't get any worse," you whispered out.
