shopped till I literally dropped.

My life. My love. My ipod.

i was slouching on a bean chair , resting my head on my knees. i need sleep and my ipod.

since i arrived at the mall , valerie was being briefed on a new housing scheme by one of her employees who probably didn't have a life.

which woman talks about eco-friendly housing schemes when gucci bags are available in a 5 metre radius?

My vague attention now settled on all the  women and children filing in and out of various glass rooms presumably specialising in one particular item. Various shades of pink bags flashed by me tangled on to the busy arms of girls who seem to shop in cliques.

i glanced at valerie, who glanced back at me and smiled apologetically. I forced a smile and nodded reassuringly. i knew she didn't plan for this to happen but i was feeling faint and i was now half as excited as i was this morning about shopping for a girls essentials as valerie put it. The subject never appealed to me but i eventually gave in since i knew she meant good.

scanning the enormous complex before me i chanced to see a familiar face . My heart beat raced as i rose to my feet and stalked over to the familiar face that stood behind a counter . Half way to it the face turned around to perhaps answer one of the customers.

I nervously walked over to the counter and with out thinking it through said "Marlene? "

i was left without an answer for a couple of minutes.

I hate when people do that. whether you are talking via phone ,text , skype or anything in my opinion you should never leave them hanging.

she whipped around to face me almost scarring my face with her frizzy hair.

"welcome to the candy corner , how can i be of service" was her practised reply. Before i could respond she continued

"If you are a fan of diabetes i recommend you turn left ,if you are currently going through a break-up- eating spree i reckon you stop by the ice cream stand" with that she smiled one of those million dollar smiles.

i laughed softly.

"This mall needs more people like you. Not a fan of sweets though"

she was obviously taller than me and had blue -yes . blue frizzy hair.

She had a weird outfit on. with dont curse printed in a rainbow of colours. Her cherry lips were a odd shade of pale blue. she looked anaemic with that sort of colour.

Her lean hands were adorned with sport bands , glittering bracelets and around ten friendship bands on either hand. Her nails looked like she visited a salon the day before. unlike my cave man nails.

"if you aren't a fan of sweets why are you here ? " she asked me with her hands crossed, swinging her fringe which had clearly over grown and was now covering more than half her face.

"um yeah. well i thought you were someone else . My bad" what a waste of energy. Disappointed, i tucked my hands back in to my denim pockets and started dragging my feet across the tiled floor. I loved doing that. i loved dragging my feet with out actually lifting them when walking. But its un-attractive for a girl , according to our family doctor.

Once i was a few steps away from the candy girl i heard her say " yeah people often mistake me for Naomi campbell. " followed by a snort.

"you aren't black so.Not really" i said once i had stopped and had turned around to face her again.

she laughed-snorted again and stretched out her lean arm half hidden by a rainbow of god knows what. "I'm Barack obama , pleasure to meet you" she said ,now with a more genuine smile.

Grinning from ear to ear i said

"I'm Bob marley. Nice to meet you too" i shook her already out stretched hand.

"Bob marley came in with miss teapot over there  ?" she pointed to valerie who seemed almost over with the briefing .

"i beg your pardon?  tea pot? " i asked chuckling and a bit offended.

"short and stout" she said in the rhythm of the infamous nursery rhyme.

"oh. Good one. so does that mean you were stalking me Mr president? "

i inquired with a playful shocked face plastered on my face.

"you wish " she said grinning. "pretty much everyone around here knows Miss teapot. You see that second building over there right beside the elevator  ?"

i rubbed my eyes sleepily and focused on what obama was pointing at.

"yeah , why?" i asked

"well miss tea pot over there designed it " she said while unwrapping a lollipop right before popping it in to her mouth.

"oh cool" i said not showing much surprise. valerie was a talented architect. Everyone knows that.

"so are you to new to the mystic lands of wellston Bob ?" she asked genuinely curious.

" i sure  am Mr.president" i said sighing.

obama-"moved houses?"

me-"sort of"
obama- "too bad ass for your previous school?"
me- "definitely"

i liked her. we surely share a cheesy sense of humour.

"so you in raven?" she  asked

"you mean raven highschool? yeah as a matter of fact i do. How do you know all this? " i asked clearly surprised.

"Im psychic " she winked. i laughed again.

"seriously though " i inquired on a more serious note.

" Im psychic. seriously" she said again with a grin.

i shook my head "sure you are"

Before i got to question her psychic abilities i heard valerie calling me.

"I am being summoned, see you on monday then " i said with a grin as i turned back and jogged toward  the bean chair on which valerie was now sitting. I sure jogged alot today i thought to myself as i yawned for like the tenth time.

As i approached her i could read the guilt on her tired face.

"forgive me tee i know i took too long. This scheme just couldn't wait. They want us to re arrange some of the-" before she went further i said

"valerie breathe. It's fine. Really its fine. we have plenty of time to use your platinum card on my clothes and what not" throwing in abit of humour. i just couldn't resist.

she chuckled "you are one of a kind serina" she said as she stood up adjusting her red blouse with a ton of frills in the middle.

"Alrighty . Lets shop" with that she stomped off ushering me to follow her quick without falling behind whilst talking with a stylist who tried to keep up with valerie's quick pace. she had a measuring tape draped around her neck and a bunch of magazines tucked under her arm.

For about five hours i stood before mirrors that stood tall as the ceiling of the complex while several people twisted and twirled me around fitting and adjusting a train of clothing onr after another. I stood for hours and i was getting more and more drowsy. My knees ached. My throat was dry from arguing with valerie about the money she was spending on me. My head throbbed and the messy bun i had pulled all my hair in to now felt too heavy. My skin ached from rubbing against numerous fabrics.

i saw a water filter fixed on to a table a few steps away so i rubbed my eyes open and limped towards it . I was wearing a turtle neck sweater that valerie thought was nice and it started suffocating me. I barely walked a few steps and my knees gave in and i collapsed. I felt a  sharp pain rising near my forehead but it soon vanished as everything blacked out.
