Kyla's POV
Luca and I are currently driving to the park. When he explained that it was a field with a swing, he left out just how big the field really was. The swing was nowhere near as close to the benches as I thought.
It didn't take us very long to get to the park, maybe ten minutes by car. We could've walked there if we honestly wanted to, I don't have the energy for that right now but may some other time would be really nice. Luca and I got there before Tom did but Fin was already sitting on a bench. The area he was seated had three more benches that were spread out widely to surround a fire pit that looks like it's last use was in the 80's.
We walk up to the benches and I sit by myself while Luca goes and sits right next to Tom. They chat for a few minutes and I can already see how happy my brother was to be with his friend. This made me happy to see he could finally be normal again instead of the boy dealing with an over-emotional sister with baggage.
Tom looks over to me with a small smile, "Hey kid how you feelin'?"
I shrug and look down at the ground. I'm seated with my knees to my chest and have my arms wrapped around myself. It's isn't that I'm called, I just need to be as small as possible right now. The smaller I close myself in the harder it is to see me, maybe that will keep Weston from finding me.
Tom leans forward and lays his elbows on the top of his knees. This position would normally feel threatening to me, but from Tom it is a protective stance. "Hey hun look at me please," I look up, "You are not alone Kyla. You have all of us and we will get you through this. Whatever is freaking you out, we will get to the bottom of. Kylie told you her story so you know that you have a group here that will keep you safe."
I smile softly and nod as a gesture of thanks. He is so sweet but if Weston comes back...not even big, strong Tom couldn't help me. Luca nods his head agreeing with his friend, "Kyla, I just got you back. I have been looking for my baby sister for far too long for me to let anything happen to you again. You don't need to be scared anymore. That piece of shit will not be getting out of jail any time soon."
I let out a soft laugh and shake my head. They don't know Eric. He always gets his way. He is already half way out of this situation and soon I will be back with him or dead.
Tom looks confused, "Why are you laughing?" I look at him sideways, "Oh shit. Crap I don't know what to do. Um, if I give you my phone will you type what you are thinking?"
I shake my head. They don't need to know. The less involved they are the better. Standing up I look around to make sure no one is nearby then head over to the swing. Luca calls out to me but I just point to the swing and he lets me go.
The swing is a bit too tall so I have to hop to get onto the seat. Once I am up, I start to force my legs back and forth to bet my swing higher. I sit like this for a while. Suddenly, I hear footsteps approaching and my fear spikes.
Looking slowly to my left I let out a huge breath seeing the familiar green eyes that belong to Fin. He sees me let out the panicked breath and puts his hand awkwardly at the nape of his neck, right below the end of his midnight toned hair.
He smiles gently at me, "Hey Kyla. Sorry about that I didn't mean to scare you." I smile back and shake my head. He sits on the swing next to me, "Are you feeling okay? Luca told me you went to see Eric."
I drop my smile and look down at my lap. This topic really needs to be dropped. A hand reaches out and takes mine. Fin rubs small circles on the backside of my hand. The gesture was very comforting.
"I know you aren't going to speak about whatever happened. But you should really try to talk with Luca if you can. He doesn't want you to know this," He pauses for a moment and then lets out a deep sigh," he isn't holding up so well right now, Kyla. Luca cares so much about you. Even before you came back into his life, all he did was talk about leads on where you could be. He never ever gave up on finding his little sister and having you back...I have never seen him so happy and angry and upset all at the same time. Since you stopped talking he has been a mess. He is so beyond worried for you. Whatever happened just know we won't let anything happen to you."
I feel thee lump in my throat rise as I look over to Fin with tears slowly dripping down my face. At barely a whisper I say, "I'm sorry." I take a huge breath, "Me not talking will protect my family."
He tilts his head, "I-I'm not sure I understand."
I shake my head and clear my throat, "I can't tell you Fin. A-and you can't tell anyone that I spoke to you."
Fin looks me in the eyes, worry obvious through the reflection of those beautiful green orbs of his. "Can you please tell me what is going on? Please Kyla. I will keep it between us but I need to know what we are dealing with here if you are this shaken up. Please." He sounds desperate. I can't help but want to tell him. If I tell him he will be in danger.
I shake my head and shut my mouth. No more now.
Fin seems to get that I am done speaking again. He sits quietly for a while with me. Both of us just swinging and relaxing as the wind blows softly. This is almost relaxing.
He stays for a few more minutes before telling me he is going to go see Tom and Luca. I nod and continue swinging. After a little while my energy becomes less and less until I am too tired to swing anymore. As I feel my eyes starting to close, I hear someone sit down on the swing next to me. I don't look over, assuming it's one of the boys.
Then a voice that I know all too well shakes me to the core, "Hello sweet face. It's been a while hasn't it?"
