Y/n's POV:

I clicked my tongue in annoyance, kicking a stone as I walked further away from the Heartslaybul dorm (also the dorm I was sadly sorted into).

"Oh~ it seems like someone knocked your hat off your head~" a voice purred teasingly.

"Fuck off, Chen." I spat out, avoiding the glowing yellow eyes of the purple haired boy.

I really wasn't in the mood for anybody today. Not even Chen'ya.

I watched as his purple tail moved along my shoulder blades, before he hung upside down in front of me, that grin on his face.

"You're angry~" he purred.

I rolled my e/c eyes,"What gave it away, you furry?"

"Your colors are dulling."

I sighed, lowering my top hat to cover my eyes, my lips in a thin line.

It was easy for everyone to tell when I was sad, annoyed, angry or any negative emotion. My hair, eyes, makeup, clothes and hat always dulled or darkened.

But, I rarely ever felt these emotions. I was always happy. The clown of Heartslaybul! The maddest kid around!

Y/n Hatterson.

I hoisted myself onto a random branch, my feet dangling as I waited for Chen'ya to settle beside or above me.

I felt the male's presence beside me and that's when I took my hat off, placing it on my lap as I stared into the forest.

"Why was I sorted into Heartslaybul? Why are there so many insignificant rules? There are too many rules for me to remember." I whispered sadly, the ends of my hair drooping.

"I'm not meant to follow rules. I'm meant to bend them, slightly." I added, playing with the card in my hat.

The cat hybrid beside me remained silent, his tail stopped moving before he turned to me.

"What did Riddle do?" He questioned.

Narrator's POV:

Y/n remained silent, his h/c and f/c streaked bangs covering his e/c eyes.

The teasing grin on Chen'ya's face dropped into a concerned frown.

Chen'ya knew Y/n since they were kids. But, he never hung out with Cater or Riddle. Their parents, every parent in their town, always said Y/n was a bad influence and that they'd be cursed if they befriended him.

He and Y/n are as tight as thieves, even though they go to opposing schools. He knew Y/n never had a happy life. He watched his father descend into insanity, watched as he was taken away in a straight jacket and never saw him again until a few years ago.

Y/n visits his father as much as he can but his father rarely remembers him, giving him small items like buttons or ribbons whenever he left. Said buttons and ribbons being added to his many top hats, blazers, ties and sweater vests.

Riddle only knew half of his story, since Y/n never felt comfortable talking about his life. He learnt how to take those emotions and memories and press them down in the back of his brain, creating many personalities and persona's along the way.
