Hyewon was already taken in the hospital while I stayed at Jaehyun's office. I was still stunned on all the shambles and cavalcade that befell earlier.
I am showing no emotions at all, but scared is an understatement to describe what I am feeling right now.
I couldn't breathe. It felt as if someone was choking me. My heart is racing, and all I wanted to do is curl up into a ball and wait for someone to save me. But no one would, no one is here. A choked cry for help forced itself up my throat, and sooner, I felt a drop run down my cheek.
It seemed as if this was the end of the road for me.
I felt like I was accused of a crime I didn't even do and got a verdict with a guilty plea.
Jaehyun didn't even think twice when Hyewon told him that I was the one who poured the hot water on her. He didn't even wait for me to defend myself. It is just an indication that he didn't trust me.
I smiled bitterly, letting the tears trace down.
Who am I to be heard anyway? I'm just merely a girl from Australia who is born from an orphanage. Jaehyun associates me as a pathological liar. So, who am I to defend myself?
I looked down. I wonder what will happen to me now. Go behind bars? Or maybe, get exposed by my lies?
I ought to know Jaehyun's capability of ruining someone's name is a snap, and today, I think I am seeing it coming: the downfall of mine.
I was in the midst of thinking about the worst-case scenarios in my head when I heard the door screeches slowly, making me turn to it automatically.
"Eunwoo..."
Eunwoo was there, standing in the door frame with his weary face. Based on the look he is giving me, I knew right away that he had already heard about it.
"Have you heard about it?" I asked him just to check.
"Yes," He nodded as he carefully went over me then sits beside me.
"Do you believe I did that?" I asked, waiting for his answer.
"I don't know, Rosé," Eunwoo sighed and shook his head, "I don't want to be unfair to the both of you."
You are being unfair right now. I want to say, but I chose to keep a mum about it.
"What happened is just an accident, right?" Eunwoo asked again when I didn't say anything.
"I didn't even drink any hot water," I sarcastically chuckled.
"Are you saying Hyewon poured the hot water herself?" Eunwoo raises a brow.
"You know what, Eunwoo, if you're just going to insist that I did that to Hyewon, it will be a lot better if you shut your mouth. It is not helping me," I spat, losing my remaining patience.
