Blair woke with a start. Something soft was pressing against her face.
"Patches. Morning," Blair said groggily, pulling the cat down a bit. "I forgot you were here."
Mornings were usually a little fuzzy, and this was no exception. She rubbed her eyes harshly.
Blair sat up. Her phone was lit up on the bedside table with several texts. One was her mom reminding her to find a therapist, several were from Adam, and there were a few from her friends.
There was a knock at the door, and Patches sprang up from the bed and sprinted underneath it. Blair burst out laughing. She wasn't nearly as fuzzy after that.
"I- uh, I'm assuming you're up?" Dream, cracked the door open, but didn't come through.
"Yeah," Blair said laughing. "You can come in! Patches and I were vibing and you scared her under the bed."
Dream opened the door and leaned on the door frame. His ears were dusted pink, plus he was staring.
"What?"
"Now whose hair looks stupid," he said with a grin.
"I just woke up!" Blair tugged at the roots of her chin length hair. "This is not fair."
"Oh, I think it's plenty fair." He walked over and sat on the edge of the queen size bed. "What do you want to do today?"
Blair raked her fingers through her hair again. "What day is it?"
"Wednesday."
"I have to work."
Blair worked part time as a waitress at a restaurant in the city. It covered what she didn't get from streaming, and she had forgotten about it until that morning.
"Oh. I forgot that you worked a real job."
"Yeah, not all of us are YouTube stars, Dream," Blair teased. Dream rolled her eyes at her. She knew that he didn't like to talk about it that much though, so she dropped it. "Uh, my uniform is still at Adam's place."
Dream frowned. "You could call in sick?" Blair just looked at him and shook her head. "Or not."
"I... probably should talk to him anyways."
"You don't have to?"
"Why are you doing that? Do you really think I should just ghost him?"
He looked down. "I mean, maybe."
"Dream-"
"I just- I'm sorry. I just don't want to see you get hurt again."
Blair couldn't help but smile softly at that. "If things from here on out went perfectly, what do you think I would do?"
Dream looked up at her. He seemed lost in thought for a moment. "I don't know. You find someone who makes you happy. Well, I don't think any one person can just make you happy."
"What do you mean?"
"Like, one person won't just fix your life."
"Right."
"But they help you be happy. And they help you find other things that make you happy."
"Okay, so I find someone who helps me find happy. And that's not Adam?"
"... No."
Dream kept staring at her for a moment, before he finally looked away.
"Are you happy? With him?"
