"Hey, Mom, it's Blair."

"Hi, sweetie! How are you doing?"

Blair was sat outside her therapist's office waiting for Dream to come pick her up. She took a deep breath of the autumn air before she replied.

"I'm okay. I'm sorry I haven't called in a while."

"That's alright. Did you end up sorting things out with...?"

"Uh, no- well, yes- I ended it," Blair said, running a hand over the stitches in the side of her jeans nervously.

"I'm sorry. How are you feeling?"

"Good, all things considered. Dream's been really great- I know you don't really know him, but he's probably the only reason I've kept my head above the water. We picked up the rest of my stuff from Adam's place the other day, so I think we're settled?"

Blair smiled at her mom's laughter over the speaker. "I'm glad to hear it. Hey, I've been meaning to ask you: are you going to come up for Christmas this year?"

"Um, I'd really like to! Maybe spent a week or two in town, just get a change in scenery. I really miss you guys."

"You're always welcome home, Blair, and your brother's miss you. Plus, you should bring your new friend, Dad has been bothering me for details."

Blair felt her cheeks start to burn. "Of course he has. He can just call, you know."

"You know your dad is always losing his phone. You'll just have to bring Dream up with you. The guest room is always open."

She could hear her mom's teasing smile through the phone. "Alright, if you insist."

"Tell him to bring a coat."

"I will. Love you."

"Love you, too!"

When she looked up from her phone, she noticed Dream's car parked across the lot and walked over.

"Why are you making me walk?"

"You seemed busy!" Dream said, handing her a cup of something warm. "Hot chocolate."

"Oh, thank you. It's like seventy five degrees outside?"

"It's November, just appreciate the vibe."

Blair rolled her eyes with a small smile. "How was lunch?"

"Uh, it was good. Lily is busy with the winter show at the University, and mom is doing her Christmas baking next weekend. But everyone is good!"

Dream had told her that afternoon that his mom wanted to start doing weekly lunches, which was nice so he didn't have to drive back and forth so much when Blair went to her appointments.

"Speaking of Christmas, my mom was asking if I was going to visit this year."

"Did she?"

"She invited you to come, if you want." When Dream didn't reply, she continued. "I know we only joked about it, and you have your own family, so you can say no. And Christmas is in less that a month, so it's super last minute so I super understand if you don't want to go. You know-"

"Hold on a second, I'm thinking," Dream said with a laugh. "It sounds like a lot of fun, actually. And my mom is travelling this year, and Lily and Michael want to go visit their dad, so I'm in."

"Wait, where does your dad live?"

Dream glanced over the center console at her before turning her eyes back and the road with a frown. "He lives in New York."
