The buckskin gelding let out a loud snort as he started to eat his hay. 

"So, Doc had mentioned that the other boys were out checking cattle. How many men are we talking about?" I asked the taller man beside me. "Well," he began, "including Doc and I, there are 5 of us in total. Its quite the bunch let me tell ya." We both lightly chuckled.

I diverted my attention back to my horse. There was a small moment of silence between us before Dick spoke up, "So, do you plan on staying with us? There's always plenty of room in the bunk house." He chuckled. My forehead creased at the thought. Thoughts of Jessie, Colt, Tommy, and my gang came to the forefront of my mind. " I still have family out there that need me. I might stay here until things cool down, if that's alright with you all. "I hesitantly looked into his eyes.

"Its alright with me. You'd have to run it by Tunstall first, but I'm sure he'll welcome you with open arms." Dick reassured me. I gave him an appreciative smile. In that moment I could hear the faint sounds of pounding hooves coming from the East. I gave Dick a confused look. "That must be the boys. C'mon. Ill introduce ya." He urged me out of the barn.

We walked side by side back towards the house. The sounds of a small group of horses growing louder by the second. As Dick and I made it back to the front porch, 3 horses appeared from the hill to the east. The riders slowed their horses as they approached the hitching post.

"Woowee!" one of the riders blurted out. "That's about as fast as this old nag has gone all year!" He exclaimed as he dismounted from his horse. He was young, my age, no more than a year older. The second rider jaggedly trotted up from behind him. Both of them seemed unaware of Dick and i's presence at the top of the porch. "Damn. I almost won too!" the second rider exclaimed. this man was also around my age, but he had a thick wad of chewing tobacco in his lip. He dismounted and hitched his horse next to the other mans horse. They started to playfully bicker before Dick cleared his throat catching the boys' attention. "oh-" "woah-" both of the men stuttered out. Only then did I notice the last man who was approaching the hitching post.

He had long black hair and tanned skin. He didn't seem like the other two boys. He seemed more calm, cool, and collected. he noticed me almost immediately and gave me a small smile. my cheeks reddened so I redirected my focus back to the other two boys. The first boy had already made it up to the porch steps. The second boy followed closely behind him. "Hey Ma'am! I'm glad to see that you're ok." the first boy greeted. I gave him a warm smile. "Thank you, Mr...?" "Bowdre. Charlie Bowdre its nice to properly meet you miss." Charlie reached for my hand, but he was interrupted by the second boy pushing in font of him to greet me.

"Hey miss I'm Steve." Steve successfully took my hand and gave it a polite kiss. Charlie huffed to himself. Dick, who stood beside me, seemed amused. i gave Steve the same smile i had given Charlie. "Alright you two, into the house, Tunstall gave you both chores to do." Dick told the boys. they both groaned and sighed in defeat. Steve was the first to open the door and inter the small house. Charlie fell behind, and once both Steve and Dick had their backs turned to us, Charlie gently grabbed my hand and gave it a polite kiss. Charlie and i chuckled before he tipped his hat to me and followed behind Dick into the house.

The last man approached me. i smiled. "So you must be the Chavez i hear so much about.  I really want to thank you. if you hadn't  hurried like you did,--" "its no worries miss. I'm just glad you're alright. i thought you'd be a goner." Chavez and i chuckled. 

i looked the handsome man in the face, holding eye contact. i stuck out my hand.

"Casey Cassidy. its nice to meet you Chavez." He smiled and grasped my hand in his larger one.

"Likewise Miss Cassidy."
