-around half an hour earlier-
May's POV
I ran out the door, wanting to be early for once. I mentally reminded myself to thank Drew once I got there.
I REALLY needed help in math and Drew is like a math genius.
Seriously, we're in 9th grade, and he's doing, like, 11th and 12th grade math! I just don't get it!
I was around half way there, when suddenly Brendan popped up out of literally nowhere.
"May!" He said happily. "I need to tell you something!"
Oh please don't ask me to the dance, I silently begged my childhood friend.
"Uh... What is it?"
He looked around. "I... I can't tell you here. Just come with me for a sec."
"Sorry Brendan, but I'm heading to meet someone, and I'll be late."
He gave a big smile. One that looked almost... Fake. He held my wrist.
"It won't be long."
I tried to yank it out of his grasp, but he held it too tightly.
"You. Are. Coming. With. Me." He hissed through closed teeth. He rotated my wrist quite painfully.
"B-Brendan! Stop!"
"I suggest you come with me unless you want a broken wrist. It wouldn't take too much more pressure."
He dragged me into a pretty much never used side road and pinned me against the cold brick wall. From behind him seven hooded figures appeared.
"I want to let you in on a little secret. I trust you've heard of the B and B?
(A/N did anyone remember that from the first chapter?)
I fearfully nodded.
"Well I'll tell you something. The B and B stands for the Brendan Boys.
Things started to click into place. But... How... How could my childhood be behind all of these brutal attacks?
He laughed, a mocking tone heavily laced into it.
"You're starting to figure out that I'm not as innocent as you seem." He gestured to the seven boys behind him. "These are my colleagues."
"Brendan! How could you!"
"Look, May. We recently acquired a new client who wishes to remain anonymous. Deal is, you need to stay away from Drew."
The client is a fangirl, isn't it?
Brendan thought for a moment. "As for the play, you can both continue that. I'm looking forward to seeing you on stage. However, other than that, you must leave his life."
"And what if I don't."
He sighed. "Then I'm afraid that we will have to take a trip to the hospital."
"I- no. You can't force me. You can't control my life."
"All right then. Since you insist. If you disobey, then Drew will be the one to pay for it."
---------------------
I was almost at the Aroma Park. If I hang around Drew... Then he's going to hurt.
I have no doubt that he could take on one or two of them, but if they gang up on him... I wouldn't let this happen.
I won't let him get hurt because of me.
He's always protects me, no matter what it is, so it's my turn to protect him.
I'm protecting him by staying away.
I saw him sitting on a park bench waiting for me. I'm sorry, Drew. I'm sorry.
"Almost late June. Four minutes early. I think that's a record for you-"
It's time.
"Shut up."
He looked genuinely surprised.
"I... I HATE YOU!!!!!!!!! Stay away from me, you green haired freak. I've had enough of you and you 'I'm so much better than May' ways."
"May? Wha-"
"You... You never call me by my name. You laugh at me. You taunt me. You make fun of me. And you call me your friend?"
"M-May! I was just teasing y-"
"Excuses, excuses. You try to toy with me with those roses." I held up the rose He had given me earlier.
"They mean nothing to me." I dropped it, and casually destroyed the delicate petals with my foot.
"I hate you. Got that through your evil little brain? I'm on to you. All you do is mess up my life, so why don't you stay out of it?"
"M-May!"
"STAY OUT OF MY LIFE AND LEAVE ME ALONE, BUDREW!!!!!!!!"
I turned and sprinted back to my dorm.
I had used his least favorite nick name, the one I promised I would never use against him. The one he hates. The one that brings back painful memories for him.
I'm sorry, Drew. I didn't mean one word of it. But... It will hurt even more if I don't.
------------------
So now we know why May did that. She was only trying to protect him.
Did anyone remember the quick mention of the B and B in the first chapter?
See ya!
