I dragged myself to play practice. Sure I wanted to see May, but... At the same time I just wanted to go lock myself in my room.

I was about to open the door into the school theater be fore May shoved past me, hair hiding her face.

"MAY!!!" I called after her. She didn't even hesitate.

What did I do?

--------------------

"Okay. I would like you to practice the scene where Ariana learns that she she would have to be with David."

"Ariana... I have something I need to tell you."

May as Ariana slid into the seat beside her 'dad'.

"What is it father? Do you need me to run another errand? I could go down to the bakery to get some fresh bread, or-"

"That's not it. As you know our farm has been doing well lately. I'm sure you've heard of the Marshtomps?"

"How could I not? They are only the only the richest and most successful farmers in town!"

"Well, you see, their only son and heir to the farm David has taken an interest in you. You are to be his wife."

"WHAT!?!?!?" Ariana exclaimed. "Father?!?! How could you do this to me?!?!"

He sighed. "I'm sorry Ariana, but I want to make sure that you're in good hands. David is a smart and hansom young man. He won't let you go hungry. Well, at first you would only start out as his girlfriend."

"F-father..."

"Don't worry, you can still stay here for the time being, but you are to marry him. There is nothing that you can say or do to stop it."

"How could you..."

"I'm sorry, but I have no son. I am growing older quicker every day. There will be a day when I can not provide for you. David can take care of you and make sure you are safe."

"I-I understand, father."

-scene end-

I grabbed May's arm before she could dash out of the theater. "Look, May. I get the idea that you're mad at me, but can you at least tell me why. This isn't like you, holding it all in. What's going on?"

She looked back at me with this pathetic weak expression that quickly hardened. "I'm sorry Drew. It's for the best." She tried to pull away, but I wouldn't let her.

"No. Tell me what's wrong first."

"Nothing's wrong."

"MAY, YOUR'E MY BEST FRIEND, AND ONE DAY YOU JUST START IGNORING ME AND KICKING ME OUT!!!!!!!!!!!! I HAVE A RIGHT TO KNOW WHAT I DID!!!!!!!!!!!!"

I just exploded, and let my well-controlled temper come loose.

"IT'S BECAUSE, WELL, I HATE YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

*slap*

I stood there in shock. Al sound seemed to fade to silence, and my vision blurred so badly, I could only see her retreating figure run away from me.

I let go. I collapsed on the floor and let the tears flow.

---------------------

I lay in my bed, staring up at the ceiling. So... She really does hate me.

I felt another tear make its way down my cheek. I didn't even know I has any tears left to cry.

My whole world was gone.

--------------------

-May-

You used to be my best friend, but now... I HATE YOU BRENDAN!!!!!!!!!

You're forcing me to give up my friendship, my bond, and any slight chance I might have with Drew.

He could never forgive me for any of this... Why, Brendan? Why?

The next few days were Just a blur of avoiding Drew and crying when I thought no one could see me.

Drew seemed pretty upset about this whole thing as well. He kept on trying to talk to me and ask what he did wrong.

He did nothing wrong... It was me.

My head hung low as I grabbed my textbooks. I heard Drew approaching from behind me.

"Go away..."

"Actually I was. I just had something to say first. I get that you hate me. I don't know why, but I get that. I'm sorry and I don't know what I did. So that's why I'm going to leave you alone, as you wish. Don't even bother trying to talk or contact me, because I won't answer."

No... Drew... Please no...

"From now on, I am a stranger to you. A stranger who doesn't care what happens to you." And with that, he walked off.

This was one of those times that I'm glad that my mascara is waterproof.

-------------------

-Christy-

"Hello, Drewy." I batted my eyelashes at him in a way that would have made most boys fall head over heals for me, but Drew is different.

"Leave me alone." He said miserably, storm cloud hovering over his head.

"Aw... That was so sad... Why don't you go to the dance with me to make up for it?" I suggested.

"What part of leave me alone did you not understand?" He ran off to class head down.

"Just give him time. He will fall for me faster than I can take down that stupid May girl."

"Um... Christy? Are you sure that we should be doing this? You're really hurting Mr. Drew."

"Shut your mouth Brianna. I'm the only one aloud to be with my Drew. I have no regrets about this."

Dun dun dun...
