Chapter 6

SOFIA'S POV:

Josh has been really down lately, and we all know why, of course.

But yesterday after he came back from the shelter, he seemed, happier. I hope he's getting better, but this seems a little fast. It's only been a few days.

I decided to text Olivia since we haven't talked since she left.

hey liv! how's new mexico?:Sofia

Olivia: eh, just like any other state haha

Olivia: how's everyone there?

good ig. me and josh miss you tho :( :Sofia

Olivia: josh?

Olivia: oh.

you ok? :Sofia

Olivia: yeah. i have to go, talk to u later?

ok. ttyl! <3 :Sofia

Olivia: <333

Ok, that was a little weird. I bring up Josh and she suddenly has to go? interesting.

~ 2 days later ~

JOSH'S POV:

I think I have come to peace with Olivia leaving. I mean yeah, I like her and all, but if she's happy I'm happy. plus I have a new friend to help me cope. Nina is actually really nice!

We have a lot in common! We both play guitar and piano, and she even plays the ukelele! She also told me she used to sing. She claims she's 'not that good', but I think she's underestimating herself. We're gonna be good friends, I know it! or mayb-

My thoughts get cut off by a knock on my door... or multiple.

Matt gets up and looks through the peep-hole, before nervously laughing and saying, "You want to get that?". He then goes back to his bed, but not before I give him a very confused look.

My first thought was that it was my family, coming for a surprise visit. Or maybe a friend from back home. but when I open the door, It's neither of the two.

I see Nina and Sabrina both standing in the doorway.

Nina adjusts her glasses, while Sabrina is looking at me flirtatiously. I can't help but notice that Sabrina is also wearing roughly a pound of makeup, while Nina isn't wearing any. God, she looks so- 

"Hey, Joshy!!!" Sabrina exclaims.

What's up with people interrupting my thoughts today?

"Hi. Hey Nina, come in." I say, almost completely ignoring Sabrina.

"Thanks", She says

"What about me Joshy?!" Sabrina exclaims with agony in her voice.

"I don't know if Sofia would want you in here"

"Ugh!" she pouts.

OLIVIA'S POV:

Is she hitting on him?! How come Sofia wouldn't want her in here?

I get so caught up in my thoughts, I completely missed Josh slamming the door in Sabrina's face. I sit on the couch, and soon he joins me.

"'Joshy?'" I say, trying to hold back my laugh as a imitate Sabrina.

We both burst into laughter.

"yeah, I don't know when I told her she could call me that, Only my family and closest friends call me Joshy" He explains.

I nod. understanding. Only my family call me Livvy. I don't think anyone else has ever called me that.

I suddenly get knocked out of my thoughts by Josh.

"You can call me Joshy if you want"

I look up and we immediately locked eyes. it felt as if time had stopped. He subconsciously starts leaning in. Is he about to kiss me?!

My mind is telling me to pull away, but I start to do the exact opposite.

I lean in

Both of our eyes start to close shut, but just then, Matt walks through the door with Sofia.

Josh and I immediately pull apart. a scarlet color making its way on our faces.

"Oh, h-hey guys." Josh scratches the back of his neck

"Hey, What are you guys doing?"

Everyone turns to Olivia, considering she was in Josh's apartment.

"I came to give Josh his jacket back! he left it at the shelter yesterday. figured you might need it in case you got.... cold? anyway, there you go." I pull the jacket out of my backpack. "bye!" I practically run out of the room.
