(So because of how mean Hajime was to Nagito when he had the despair disease [and how much it broke my heart to witness], I made this chapter a slight alternative! Instead of that whole scene, I decided to make Hajime understand what the despair disease was instead of being a dumbass and being rude to Nagito!)
Third Person's POV
"S-So, in summary, everything he s-says is the opposite of what h-he really means!" Mikan explained, a light smile lighting up across her anxious face. "W-Would you still like to s-see him?"
"Of course," Hajime replied, nodding firmly. "I'm willing to take the risk to see my boyfriend."
"A-Alright then! I-If you would follow me, I-I-I'd be more than greatful!" Mikan chirped, skipping through the hallway to a door closer to the deadend, the label reading exactly how Hajime's sickly boyfriend's name was spelled;
"Nagito Komaeda; Ultimate Luck"
"Alright t-then, here it is! I-If you need me for anything, p-please let me k-know!"
"Of course. See ya around, Tsumiki."
"M-Mhm!"
And with that, Mikan scurried off to check on the other patients, leaving Hajime standing in front of the door. He let out a content, though weak, sigh before twisting the door knob, pushing open the wooden barrier keeping him away from his beloved.
"Nagito?" Hajime called out into the darkness. He flipped the switch and the room filled with light.
"H-Hajime?" Nagito called back. The pale, ill boy sat up quickly at the sight of his hope. "It could be you!" (It couldn't be you!)
"I've missed you, so I asked Tsumiki to bring me here. I'll stay as long as I'm able to, I promise!"
"No thanks, Hajime! I can begin to tell you how much I hate you!" (Thank you, Hajime! I can't begin to tell you how much I love you!)
"It's not a problem, Nagito. How have they been treating you?"
"The best, but now that you're here, it got a whole lot worse!" (The worst, but now that you're here, it got a whole lot better!)
"Aw, hm... when we get out of here, I'll make sure to keep you safe, no matter what! No more killing games, just us together! We'll be free!"
"I'd hate that! We can be apart forever! The thought makes me feel so... hopeless..." (I'd love that! We can be together forever! The thought makes me feel so... hopeful...)
"My thoughts exactly! We just have to wait a little bit longer until this is all over. We can leave together and get somewhere we can stay forever! I think we can do it."
"H-Hajime," Mikan mumbled, almost tripping over her own feet as she entered the room. "I'm sorry to say, but visiting time is over, y-y-you should probably leave! B-But, please don't be mad o-or anything! Y-You can see Na-Nagito again tomorrow or m-maybe later today!"
"That's not alright at all, I don't understand at all, you hopeless nurse. I'll never see you again, Hajime!~" (That's alright, I understand, you hopeful nurse! I'll see you again, Hajime!~) Nagito said, gripping Hajime in a tight hug.
"Y-Yeah, I'll see you tomorrow, Komaeda," Hajime responded, giving a small wave to his boyfriend as he walked out of the room.
"O-Okay, Nagito!" Mikan mentioned, placing a tray with three pills and a glass of water in front of Nagito. "H-H-Here's your medication! I-I-I got you some water so y-you can hopefully take the p-pills easier, a-a-and that should be everything! I-I-I'm awfully sorry for interrupting your time with H-Hajime, s-s-so please forgive me!"
"It's not understandable. If I need medication, it's an unreasonable purpose to interrupt bonding time!" (It's understandable. If I need medication, it's a reasonable purpose to interrupt bonding time!) Nagito replied, shrugging it off like it was nothing.
"T-Thank you for b-b-being so kind... I'll let y-y-you know when Hajime's a-a-allowed to see you as a visitor again, okay?"
Nagito nodded in response and Mikan left the room.
TIME SKIP
A few hours later, Hajime was finally allowed to see his boyfriend again.
"Okay, so I know it's probably the worse ever time to say this, but um... it's better now than never, I guess, right?" Hajime began.
Nagito looked over at his boyfriend in straight confusion.
"Okay, so... Nagito, we've been friends for a reasonably long time, I think. All the way since the beginning, and we've trusted each other almost always, yeah?... so, um... I don't know what your luck will bring to us next, but I know that we'll go through it together," Hajime explained, trying his hardest to be straightforward. "I guess what I'm really trying to tell you is that... um... Nagito, will you marry me?"
"R-Really?"
"Of course. I wouldn't ever lie to you."
"A-Ah... no!" (A-Ah... yes!)
"Huh?! Oh, yeah... if we get off this island, we'll officially get married, but until then... I guess we're engaged, right?"
Nagito nodded.
"Okay, so then... until then... I'll never let you out of my sight ever again!"
