Awkward Questions

Morgan walks to his first class, potions, in a daze thinking to himself ‘that was pretty great of Dumbledore….’ Morgan’s eyes widen thinking ‘WAIT. DRACO STOOD UP. DRACO IS GAY.’ Morgan stops in his tracks making several people bump into him and he mumbles apologies to the people behind him as he stands there staring at his feet thinking then shakes his head mumbling quietly “He doesn’t even want to be my friend. I should just give up” and makes his way to potions class sitting down in an empty seat with no one around him wanting to be alone for a minute. Morgan looks up when someone sits beside him about to snarl at them to go away and leave him alone but the words stick in his throat and he blinks confused when he sees Draco sitting next to him those beautiful gray eyes staring at him and Morgan stays silent as the blond haired teen begins to speak whispering so only Morgan can hear “Morgan I know you have no reason to listen to me, or even like me at this point, but please meet me outside the common room after class. You don’t have to come if you don’t want to.” Before Morgan can reply Draco gets up and goes to another seat as Morgan’s friends walk in. Carley sits beside Morgan looking curious “what did Malfoy want?” Morgan mumbles absentmindedly staring off into space with a tiny smile tugging at his lips “His name isn’t Malfoy. It’s Draco.” Carley grins nudging Morgan’s shoulder “You like him.” Morgan blushes “No I don’t!” Carley giggles poking her friend’s shoulder “You wouldn’t be blushing and denying it if you didn’t like him” Morgan turns a deeper shade of red opening his mouth to reply but is saved from the awkward conversation when Professor Snape walks into the classroom and begins his lecture saying “Turn to page 394.” Morgan turns to page 394 in his advanced potions book and starts taking notes not realizing until halfway through the class, after some kid named Neville Longbottom somehow blew up the simplest potion in the book, that not only had Draco asked to meet him after class, but he hadn’t insulted him either. Morgan spends the rest of the class period with an idiotic grin plastered on his face, and when Professor Snape asks him why he is smiling like an idiot Morgan just stutters a lame excuse about really liking potions class, which wasn’t a lie it just wasn’t why he was smiling.

*After Class*

Morgan quickly puts his things away when it’s time for the class change and darts out the door of the classroom blushing when Carley, uncharacteristically for the shy girl but making fun of your friends is apparently fun, yells after him “Go get your man!” Morgan gets to the spot Draco told him to be frowning when the other teen isn’t there and waits for a minute before sighing and getting ready to leave just as Draco runs up to him gasping “Sorry. Snape wanted to talk to me after class.” Morgan nods crossing his arms “Ok… now what do you want Draco?” Draco opens his mouth then closes it shuffling his feet awkwardly “well… I wanted to thank you for what you did at my house.” Morgan blinks looking at him suspiciously “So you just randomly decided to pull your head out of your arse and thank me for protecting you? And I’m still in pain from that thanks for asking.” Draco winces rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly and mumbles “Sorry. I just had a question for you as well…” Morgan raises an eyebrow “Go on.” Draco mumbles “I’m sorry I’ve been such an arse to you. Would… would you consider being friends again? I know you probably don’t want to after how I’ve treated you… but please. I remember how close we were when we were little… and no one else has ever been that much of a friend to me. Not even Crabbe and Goyle. I… I’d like to be that again.” Morgan stares up at the taller teen his expression completely blank as he thinks considering his options and how happy it would make him to be close to Draco again but wants to take time to think it through and says softly “Let me think about it Draco.” The smile that had been on Draco’s face slowly disappears the hope he had of being friends again dying and Morgan quickly touches his shoulder “Draco I’m not saying no.” Morgan smiles playfully up at him “I’m saying I need some time to figure out whether I want to deal with your annoying arse again” Draco smiles and Morgan gently squeezes his arm before letting go “Come on Draco. We need to go to class before we’re late.” Draco nods walking beside Morgan down the hallway as they hurry to transfiguration but after that walk Draco lets Morgan have his space for the rest of the day so he can think.

*Dinner*

Morgan catches up with Draco at the door of the Great Hall and grabs him by the collar of his cloak like he used to do when they were little and dragging him over to the Gryffindor table to sit with his friends and Draco blinks then smiles at Morgan “I assume that’s a yes to my offer of friendship then?” Morgan grins and nods “yep dragon.” Draco groans “Please don’t start that again!” Morgan grins “But it’s what your name means!” Harry blinks then looks at Carley whispering “Draco did say friendship right?” Carley and Hermione nod grinning at the two Slytherins sitting at their table the two girls look at each other and start whispering “We have to try and get them together.” “I know Carley. They are absolutely adorable. But they need some time to become friends again. They’ve been in different countries for five years and Draco hasn’t exactly treated him nicely since he got back. They’ll need time to get past that.” Carley nods “Ok. We’ll take our time.” Hermione smiles and nods all of them settling down to eat.
