Draco jogs down the hallway to the library and searches for Morgan finally finding him in the back corner wedged behind a shelf and the wall while he reads and sits down on the floor beside him “Hey Morgan? Can I talk to you for a minute?” Morgan sighs scooting out from behind the bookshelf and mumbles “You can talk but there’s guarantee I’ll listen to you.” Draco winces “Ok… well here goes…. Morgan I know I have been a complete ass, especially the past month, but I’ve been distant because I’ve been thinking. And I know that you probably would rather be talking to anyone other than me but please hear me out. I’m ashamed of what I did and I should have never helped with that song or sang along with it. In fact I plan on apologizing to Ron after I talk with you. But I want you to know that another reason I’ve been distant is that it’s taken me the better part of the last month to pull my head out of my arse and realize that I like you a lot… and now that I think about it now probably isn’t the best time to tell you that…” Morgan stares at Draco for a bit before yelling “You think!? Any time BUT know would be the time to tell me that!” The librarian walks back to them glaring “Both of you be quiet or I’ll have to kick you out.” Morgan fakes a smile “Sorry mam. We’ll be quiet.” The librarian nods going back to her desk and Draco looks at Morgan surprised “You’re good at faking emotion.” Morgan glares at Draco talking quietly now so that only Draco can hear him “Let me tell you a story Draco. And don’t interrupt me until I’m done. This story is called The Boy and an Old Friend. There once was a boy who lived on the grounds of a mansion where his parents worked. His mother helped with the house elves and his father managed the grounds. Now this boy learned at an early age to fake emotions so that no one, not even his one and only friend whose parents owned the manor, would know his father beat him from the day he learned to walk until the day he died. Even though the boy looked sad the day his father died inside he was jumping with joy because his elaborate plan had actually worked and he was free of that horrible man and could enjoy the rest of his childhood until school started happy with his friend. But then his mother decided to move them to France. And the day they left the sadness on the boy’s face was real. And during the 5 years they were in France the boy discovered he was gay and when he told the people that he thought were his friends they laughed and told the entire school. So daily the boy got called names and beat up, especially by his team mates on the quiditch team, so the boy worked out and went to muggle self-defense classes and gyms in his free time and got strong. And when the time was right he unleashed what he had learned and beat the hell out of anyone that tried to hurt him. And then something amazing happened. The boy’s mother decided to move back to England and get her old job back at the manor where his friend lived. And the boy was so excited! He got to see his friend again and finally be happy again! But imagine his surprise and how hurt he felt when not only did his friend not seem to like him anymore he called the boy names and shoved him and generally made him miserable. But regardless of all of this the boy still cared about his friend and held out hope that he would come around. The boy cared for his friend so much that when his friend’s father started to try and beat him the boy jumped in the way and took the beating for him and was beaten until he lost consciousness to protect his friend. And when he woke up and went to school the next day his friend not only basically ignored him but made fun of him and abandoned him when they got on the train leaving him to fend for himself among the crowd of strangers. And when they got to school the boy was actually hoping he would get a different house from the cruel teenager that used to be his friend but knew that he would get Slytherin regardless of what he said so he grinned and pretended to be happy at the house he got. And as soon as everyone was in the common room he tried to make friends but his old friend ruined that chance to. He not only outed the boy by telling the entire house that he was gay but the next morning had one of his minions dump lake water on the boy. At this the boy snapped and broke the minion’s nose and oh how he wanted to do so much more to make the old friend’s minion suffer but he forced himself to stop so he wouldn’t get in any more trouble than he was already in for breaking the minion’s nose. The boy tried his hardest to hate his old friend but couldn’t manage it because he care for him too much. He left to take a shower and went on with his day. To the boys surprise his old friend spoke to him without insulting him and said he wanted to talk to the boy after class. The boy met him and his old friend apologized for the way he had been acting and asked to be friends. The boy thought it over and accepted his offer. The next few weeks were the happiest of the boy’s life. He had three new friends and his old friend was once again at his side. As he boy and his old friend became close again the boy began to hope again that he could finally have what he wanted. Hoped that he would have the courage to tell his old friend that he loved him and wanted to be with him. And the boy had almost worked up the courage to tell his old friend how he felt but the old friend threw all of that away for what? A stupid quiditch match. Now answer this question. If the old friend was stupid and shallow enough to throw away everything they had and everything that might have been for a quiditch match why would the boy ever forgive him?” Morgan finishes his speech and glares at Draco waiting for his answer. Draco blinks away the tears in his eyes and stares at the floor not able to meet Morgan’s eyes he’s so ashamed and mumbles “It sounds to me like no smart person would forgive the old friend…” Morgan nods “Exactly. And I have been called many things Draco but never an idiot. Although there is a muggle saying that applies well here. Do you happen to know it?” Draco shakes his head no miserably assuming he’s going to be insulted more and Morgan puts a hand on Draco’s shoulder “The saying is: ‘There’s a first time for everything.’” Morgan grabs Draco’s tie and pulls the other boy close kissing his soft lips gently before pulling away and looking at him grinning. Draco grins like an idiot and laughs Morgan joining in after hearing the infectious sound and hugs Draco resting his head on the taller boys shoulder “So… does this mean you are willing to date me?” Draco smiles “Yes you idiot.” Morgan giggles quietly “Should we go tell the others that we’re more than ok now?” Draco sighs resting his cheek against the top of Morgan’s head “In a few minutes. I just want to sit here for a bit if that’s ok with you.” Morgan smiles moving to sit on Draco’s lap and uses his new boyfriend’s head as a pillow while he reads almost falling asleep while Draco plays with his hair and mumbles “Dragon stop. You’re gonna make me fall asleep.” Draco smiles “Alright. I’ll stop. But if I do we’re gonna go tell Hermione, Harry, and Carley that we’re fine and apologize to Ron.” Morgan groans but knows they need to so he gets up and easily pulls Draco up. Draco feels Morgan’s bicep and whistles quietly “Merlin’s beard… you weren’t kidding about getting strong. Your bicep feels like a rock.” Morgan’s eyes twinkle with mischief as he replies “You should feel my thighs. They’re even harder because of quiditch.” Draco turns bright red while Morgan giggles and after the pair takes a minute to calm down they walk hand in hand to the room of requirement to tell their friends.
Harry, Carley, Hermione, and Ron, whom they had convinced to come down so Draco can apologize to him, and they are starting to fidget while they wait. Carley looks at Hermione “Maybe one of us should have gone with him…” Hermione shakes her head “No that would have made Morgan even less likely to talk. It’s best that we stayed here.” Carley nods looking nervous and Harry rubs his oldest friends back comfortingly. A few minutes later all of their heads whip toward the door as it opens revealing Draco and Morgan hand in hand and grinning like idiots. Carley and Hermione squeal like fan girls whose OTP has just become cannon and hug the new couple Carley speaking for them all “Congratulations you two! I’m glad you two finally pulled your heads out of your arses and got together.” Carley points a finger at Draco “Now apologize to Ron.” Draco nods quickly not wanting to incur the wrath of Carley like he did earlier and looks at Ron “Ron I truly am sorry for what I and the rest of my house, excluding Morgan, did during the match last month. We shouldn’t have written the song to begin with and even if they went ahead and did it I shouldn’t have sung along because you’re one of my very few friends. I’m ashamed of myself and hope you can forgive me.” Ron crosses his arms thinking for a minute and finally sighs “Fine Draco. I’ll forgive you this time. But you don’t get another chance.” Draco nods “Understood.” The friends all smile glad that half of them are not mad at each other anymore and they all head back to their houses gathering any homework they have for the weekend and bringing it back to the room of requirement so they can work on it and help each other while talking and having fun with their friends.
